Hey so ive been questioning if im gay, i no, i shouldnt label myself or anything untill im sure but i just had a few questions. This is more to gay guys but what do you do in college say you get a completly homophobe roommate? Second, was it easy to find other gay friends on campus? Last one, Do most all colleges have a gay population these days, or was that another thing to look at when you were choosing where you wanted to go? I still have a few years befor i go off to college but i was just wondering. Thanks

Gay and college?

I'm not gay, but I just want to say, if you have a few years, your going to get to experience a bit more of life before you get to college. You will figure out who you are more, and get to see what works for you, and you will have some experience with people who don't agree with your life style. There isn't a one of us that fits in with everyone all the time, we just learn how to deal with the naysayers.

You can always put in for a room transfer if the two of you absolutely can't get along.College life is pretty open. Even when I was going to school back in the mid 90s it was easy to meet and find openly gay people and that was in one of the most backward states in the country, Oklahoma.

If you find that your room mate is a homophobe and if you feel uncomfortable sharing with him, you can request a room change. Also, to find other gays on campus, some schools have active gay-straight alliances for the students. You may want to look at the school's student organization directory.

Well Devin, my boyfriend is a member of a gay-straight alliance at his college. There should be some kind of announcement board somewhere at your school that would most likely have a flyer advertising that there will be a meeting on XX-XX-XXXX at XX:XX in the _______ building. Also, Classy is right with the roommate transfer... best wishes to finding the true you!
