My father has been drinking for years after the death of my mother and has had several detoxes. Unfortunately, he relapses each time because of his craving. I'm aware there's a drug available for treating alcohol addiction called Campral. It is said that Campral is a medication that helps people stay alcohol-free in combination with counseling or support groups once they have stopped drinking and makes it easier for people not to drink.Campral http://www.drugdelivery.ca/s31006-s-CAMPRAL.aspx helps reduce the physical distress and emotional discomfort (e.g. sweating, anxiety, sleep disturbances) associated with staying alcohol-free. Many people have been able to quit drinking by the support of counseling along with campral.I would appreciate your comments concerning this type of treatment.

Wikipedia articleIt appears that this drug reduces much of the bad effects of alcohol withdrawal in people who have become physically dependent. It's not a panacea, and people have to want to stop drinking - the impression I get is that it seems to help mainly by making stopping less unpleasant.

Do you its advisable to take that medication? I ask him to quit alcohol, he will answer positely but later he will restart to drink. I want to find a solution so that he stop to drink.

I don't know enough about it, but it sounds like he needs at the very least a good support group to keep his resolution steeled. He first, though, needs to want to do it himself, and not just because he's been told to.
