My hair is naturally light brown and EXTREMELY curly. Curly like you've never seen before. But as a teenager I didn't like that. So I dyed my hair darker brown and straightened it so I could look more like siblings and people wouldn't ask me retarded questions like "duuuhhh are you mixed duhhh are you biracial duuuhh" lol it's annoying trust me. but now my sister and my friends have been convincing me to go all natural by going back to my real color and hair type. And I tried it... for about a week. It's a big change for me. But I look like Shirley Temple. And I'm tired of people calling me...Shirley Temple. So, I wanted to ask some of you girls who have curly hair or straighten your hair. do you know a good conditioner or something to keep the hair straight for a while? I decided to keep my hair light brown, it still looks weird to me though. Makes my eyes look even freakier lol like some alien from a badly drawn anime cartoon. I really don't want to get a perm but I'm tired of straightening my hair before work and school everymorning when I don't wash my hair or whatever. But it seems like the only way. I don't know. Any ideas?

Curly Hair

I have super curly hair. I have to straighten it. Sorry I don't know anything that works long term, but the straightener I have now is awesome. It's one of those gold ceramic (I think) ones that get really, really hot. So, even if it's rainy or humid my hair still stays straight and doesn't get all frizzy.

I don't have curly hair, but one of the most beautiful singers does: http://blogs.indiewire.com/timbasham/corinne_bailey_rae.jpgPersonally, I'm one of those straight girls that really really likes curly.

Yeah I kind of have the same problem as you. Though my hair isn't very curly, just really difficult and doesn't do what I want it to...But anyway, I don't know of any long term things but like someone said previously, definitely invest in a high quality straightener. It makes the process sooo much easier. And one little trick of mine is if I don't have to wash it that night then I don't. I don't have very oily hair so I can usually go 2 nights without having to. Also, try straightening it at night before bed. One less thing for you to do in the morning.

try Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide serum. It makes your hair less curly [i have shirly temple hair too] and less frizzy and when you striaghten it, it makes it looks gorgeous! plus it protects your hair from the high heat damage of the straightener. its about $15 but is soooooooooooo worth it!

It helps a lot to dry your hair with a straightening attachment... Also, my friend straightens her hair the night before, and then the next day, just runs the straightner thorugh to get any small curls out, to save time. I suppose you can get your hair chemically straightened, but I don't much about that (like how great it is for your hair, how many times a year you have to do it, or how much it costs).

I had my Hair Rebonded ( it is literally the equivalent of a perm but straightening rather than curling ), say 8 months ago .... it lasts for somewhere between 3 and 6 months depending on how u maintain it ( i.e. shampoo , conditioner , blow drying )Pro's : - Dead straight hair - Hair is incredibly Shiny - Very easy to care for your hairCon's : - You can't do anything with it for a while you tie it up and the tie falls out.... - I noticed quite a lot of hair fall as the Rebonding came out i mean not to the bald extent but definitely more than normal - it was incredibly expensive !!! - your hair tends to get quite oily ( not a problem for me but i wash my hair once or twice a day depending)I liked the straight hair , it was nice but it was impossible to do stuff with it , especially for the first month.I do however suggest you straighten your hair first and keep it for a few days straight and see how you feel with it straight all the time then decide whether you want it like that for an extended period of time =) hope this helps
