it was in reply to:
I don't think you guys are crazy.
I just wonder how much it has to hurt your noses to be led around like numbskull piggiesYou and I will nevre agree on politics or god, its a good thing there are so many other things for us to discuss, stuff that we have in the past agreed on, and fuck onyl knows whats gonna go down in the future we can agree on as well. Prolly best for you and I to nevre have the politics and god discussions with each other.

Yeah, I knew you were responding to that post, I just honestly couldn't figure out what you were trying to say.I agree. And you're one of the prime examples why. Politics and Religion are like...what?...about 10% of possible topics to discuss? And there's so much about you that I do like, why waste our time talking about all the places you're wrong? Seriously, I've made a decision over the past couple of days. Not as a result of this board, but as a result of a little thinking and a lot of life. I know what I believe and why. I'm solid with that. I don't need it validated. When it comes to others, I really think all I need to know about those things is what they believe. Actually, I don't even need to know that. I know that when it comes to those two topics, it all boils down to some simple yet fundamental differences in world views. And those things aren't going to change through discussions on a message board or in a coffee shop. The best that we can hope for is that we learn more and more how our fundamental values should inform our actions. That's what's important. So my new modus operandi (and I think I've actually been doing this for a while) is to not deal on the level of what is right or wrong, but to only discuss/debate the ways in which we have those discussions. Process, not content...if that makes sense.Anyway...that's a lot of rambling I know. Bottom line is that I agree. Why frustrate each other when we can have a good discussion about a book or movie or how your old lady is doing or laugh at the fact that I'm more well endowed then you.

Quote:I know what I believe and why. I'm solid with that. I don't need it validated. And that's where we differ. I need a reason to believe something, I need proof. I suppose its as simple as "You have faith, I don't."
-
I think you misunderstood me. I didn't say that I didn't need a reason for what I believe. I think that belief without reason is one of the most dangerous things in the world. What I said was that I know what I believe and I know why (meaning what are the reasons). And if I have that, I don't need for my beliefs to be validated by everyone around me, because they are already validated by my reasoning and evidence and such that led me to that belief. That doesn't, however, mean my beliefs aren't open to challenge.
But yeah, the faith part is a big thing as well, at least when it comes to religion. Some have it and some don't, and that makes a fundamental difference in how folks perceive things I suppose.
Sorry if I was confusing.

Oh if only I had a internet connection the last 2 weeks to respond to that....I agree with most of it, its that last bit that I take exception to.lets not talk size, lets talk basic hardness. sometimes at work I misplace my hammer, when this hammens I use my dick to pound in nails.I think I could pull them by sticking the head in my pee hole and clenching, but I dont want to risk injury to my piss nozzle.as for books ? Im currently about to start reading the one and only book of oscar wildes writing. The Picture of Dorian Grey.what ya got in your memory for that work?I know the story, I just never had the chance to read the book before now.First published in 1891 and still read all these years later, its got staying power, much like my dick
-
I never read Dorian Gray, although I did see the film back when I was a teenager. As for hardness...well...mine is a sensitive tool used for pleasure. I don't beat people or things with it. I use it for good, not harm...although that whole driving a nail thing (ouch!) is quite utilitarian and could, depending on the situation, be even downright altruistic.

It's an interesting read, though you may find it precious. It's very much in the aesthetic style.
-
I havent had the time to sit and read, but Im on page 59, thats a shitty read for as long as Iv had it I normally read about 100 pages an hour. Its sorta hard to read what with it being so fucking.... artsy. DOrains just discovered his youth will leave and make him hollow and a shell, Im assuming that the selling his soul to have the picture age and not him is coming up shortly as he is now on his way to the theatre with the artists friend. Im hoping from there it will pick up. Iv only been taking time to read when Iv been on the shitter, if I could get into it Id read it in bed instead of watching letterman.its a bit precious, but I know the story, but not from the book, Im hoping it takes off soon.
-
It's a very long time since I read it (about 30 years, I think), but as I recall the style gets more artsy and aesthetic, especially when it gets to Dorian's hobbies. It's not a thriller.
-
I knew it was no thriller, I jsut wanted to know how the hell he came to get the painting and how it got enchanted, never hurts to read outside of your usual zone and pick up a classic once in a while. my tastes run more to horror and the prey novels by Johnathon Sandford for normal reading but Ill read about anything here and there and this one Iv been waiting a while to find a copy of to find the original story.Been waiting to find ti actually since I saw league of extraordinary gentlemen a few years ago and my oldest brother happened to have a copy he loaned me.
-
Hmmm...not a good time for me to try to read something precious. I just started reading Middlesex and didn't get very far. Normally I like books that have a lot going on and are very...ummm...thick. Not in inches, but in plot and characterization and such. Like John Irving. He's my favorite. But for some reason, I can't do that right now. So I put it down and started reading the first Harry Potter book.I know...I know...
-
I read the first harry potter shortly after it came out. so much negative bullshit and devil worship in the news ya know?my son got it for christmas from hsi grandma so I read it to make certain its OK for him. the first book is a bit childish but her writing improved from there and I was hooked, I preordered all the books from #3 on and read all the fucking things. Im 36 and not ashamed to say i READ ALL THE HARRY POTTERS, ANYONE THAT DOESNT LIKE IT CAN FUCK OFF.

There have been a couple of new reports recently that Rawlings in currently writing a mystery for adults. I'm thinking that would be a good read.
As for being ashamed about reading that...I think my owning both a Ricky Martin and a Backstreet Boys cd trumps your reading the HP books! Top that!
