Why are people so evil? I won't say mean because that's an under statement. I mean evil. Like... Adolf Hitler, Idi Amin, KKK clans, Mary Tudor, Nero, Diocletian etc. I know this is rather sudden or random, but I was just watching the news on tv and of course it's never good. And then I got a couple of my papers in the mail that for my history class the past year we did it on infamous people. I did most of the people listed previously, and I was reading over some of them and I couldn't help but cry go ahead and laugh but it's just very confusing to me. As to why people do what they do. Where's the pleasure in killing someone? What can you possibly gain from trying to wipe out an entire race, religion, or group of people? Is man really that prideful and power-hungry? I just wanted to know what you guys thought. And please don't turn this into something it shouldn't be. I know that 90% of this board is anti-Christian which I've learned to accept but I'm asking you nicely to just please don't do what I know you planned to. please? thanks.

Why are..?

erm. Speaking as a christain. raises flame sheildI have to say its in our nature. I've felt the urge to kill. I've felt the urge to have sex. I've felt the urge to do many horrible things.I have thought about death alot. I have thought about destruction mayheim alot. I go threw cycles sometimes.Sometimes I have the mood of "omg.. it would be so awesome to just see those people die" or "it would be great if that spike fell and killed that stupid prep over there"To at other times "no one really deserves to die". Its really been a constant struggle in me for a while. I don't think I could eve seriously hurt a fly however, its something that stirs in me constantly. I don't think it has anything to do with pride. I think its just in our nature and some people will justify it in anyway imagenable. Why do some people feel so much more inclined to do it? hard to say. It could be just like sex. Some people can go threw life with a fairly low sex drive. While others have a huge one and even get addicted. I believe killing to be similar. Some people just have the nature to kill stronger in them then in other people.Also.. others are just flat out crazy. They have mental illness which can't really be logically explained. However, I hesitate to talk about mental illness because I believe it to be the exception rather then the rule.

"Sometimes I have the mood of "omg.. it would be so awesome to just see those people die" or "it would be great if that spike fell and killed that stupid prep over there""
Are you serious...?
To Abby: Because people feel the need to get rid of those they feel are "different" or "odd". People refuse to accept other people, so they hate. And when they hate, they feel the need to hurt. People are at once the most ugly and beautiful animals, capable of such beautiful and horrible things. -
Erm. I'd be lieing if I said no. However, its usually in some way unrealistic. I think I gave a bad example. Usually when I have thoughts like that they are some how comically inclined. For example. I hear a guy at my school is "experimenting" with viagra."he died on viagra""what""yeah he didn't call the doctor after 4 hours" xD.

Actually Adolf Hitler was a great man (personal proclivities aside). He was more than likely mentally unstable but as an individual Hitler was good. Devout husband/boyfriend and christian. He helped the economy of germany in numerous ways from building road systems - which American roads are modeled after, and creating jobs for many Germans at the time. His politics were grossly, GROSSLY horrific as far as the concentration camps and the way he ran the military. In that sense I agree with you. Also (as terrible as it was) I believe, and don't quote me on this, that many of the studies he did on people benefited the whole of medicine. He went about it in a completely immoral and unjustifiable way, but it added many new things to the medical books. So he was a great man, EVIL, but great. flame away.

You forgot Walt Disney from your little list. I don't care what anyone says, a man who creates a company that puts stuff like The Fox & The Hound in front of a 4 year old Bob, that man is evil!
-
You'll get into trouble for that one!Actually Hitler was very good at rousing people up with speeches. In that sense he was a great orator. If he hadn't had that skill, he wouldn't have been able to do the horrific things he did.I don't know that I'd say that as an individual he was good. He was consumed with hatred against the Jews because he was denied entry to art school, and he allowed his anger to take him beyond all humanity and decency. At the same time it is too facile to try to pretend he was completely different to the rest of us. What horrors might any of us do at times if we had the unquestioning resources of a nation to feed our anger?Hitler did not become a husband until just before he suicided, so I don't know that you could call him devout. He had had a few girlfriends before Eva Braun, but they weren't very healthy relationships. As far as I know he was never a father. His Christianity is a matter of dispute. He was a nominal Catholic and sometimes played on this, but it seems he didn't take his Catholicism seriously.

I'm keeping my mouth shut.Too much personal bias.Like you, the fact he wiped out most of my family.
-
You didn't like the Fox and the hound? Shaaaaame on you. Shame on you >.<
-
actually you might be correct. He might not have had any children. Lemme check, and I'll get back to you on that. ...you are correct pete, no chil'ren. That's my fault. 3 am issues.
-
Its not that I didn't like it, its just the scene where she dumps the fox out in the middle of nowhere... that scene scarred me for life! I didn't cry when Bambi's mum died or when Mufasa died, but that made me cry!

I've noticed that too. In quite a few movies good ole disney has someone dying. I wonder why? Trying to teach life lessons while not directly showing gore? But as far as "evil" people are concerned. I honestly don't know why mankind or even just a handful of powerful people deem it necessary to induce suffering on their fellow (wo)man. I guess it's excess of power. I can't say for sure. Sometimes it seems the more powerful a person becomes, the more she/he seems to abuse. Human nature? Leader of the pack? No idea. Just take a look at the Bush thread. That has a nice debate going on right now. He may not stack up against someone like Dahmer, but then again, evil can be a relative term to the area and situation.
-
No, they are trying to scar young children for life. And it works, just look at all the adults around the world who still can't stand watching some of those movies without bursting into tears.
Disney is evil.
-
That's my favorite disney movie >.< my old friend and I would sing that "best of friends" song... little did we know we'd stop tlaking =/ i'm trying to fix that though.
disney = sad

If you're the cause of thousands of deaths among innocent men, women, and children I don't care if you built an entire country on your own with your bare hands you are NO great man. just his deeds alone as a dicator and leader of the Nazis leaves all "good" he's ever done unnoticed and uncared for in my opinion. not to come off rude, I have mentioned in all of my papers that despite how cruel they may have been, there's a little humanity in all of them. but it's still sickening
-
Attempting the elimination of any particular segment of society based on ethnicity, race or religeon is called genocide. It didn't matter what Hitler was.
-
'I know not; am I my brother's keeper?'
Cain and Abel. The first murder according to Genesis 4:9. If you believe in this story, then your answer lies within it. Also Eve blatantly defying God and eating the apple, that was evil. Now we all have to wear clothes everywhere we go. Damn.

Sad thing is, it's the human race that's gonna make this world die. Not Global Warming or any of that bullshit ;-)

I think it's all relative, as far as "evil" is concerned. Just like terrorism, it depends on what side you look at it from. terrorism: 1. the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes. --dictionary.com. Number one definition. Now, I'm not unpatriotic, and the military has my full support. My mother just retired from 24 years of service last Jan., but like I said, it's relative to the circumstance. We see it as our men and women doing their duties and helping a nation to establish a democracy and to rid the country of dictatorship and tyranny. But to some (like the owners of the residence we smash into to find said terrorists) it may be viewed as terrorism as well. Quote:If you're the cause of thousands of deaths among innocent men, women, and children I don't care if you built an entire country on your own with your bare hands you are NO great man. just his deeds alone as a dicator and leader of the Nazis leaves all "good" he's ever done unnoticed and uncared for in my opinion.Don't worry you aren't being rude, I completely agree, Hitler was and Evil man. But evil men, can still do great things. I don't condone his genocidal teachings and doings -- they are some of the worst things I believe can be done to anybody. But if one says killing a mass amount of people, innoncent people, just labels them as evil, then on that list you have to put President Truman, as well as the developers of atomic theory that led to the development of the Atomic bomb.

The only extrodonary thing he ever did was kill millions of people. Great things are good extrodinary things that someone accomplished. He didn't do great things. Fuck him, and Fuck you for borderline defending him.
With that said, I'm out of this thread. I don't care if you say "i wasn't defending him, only pointing out bla bla bla" I don't give a shit.
