I was planning on going with my friend to a vacation at San Diego and Six Flags. I can't wait obviously as I am very excited. But I read a news article, it was about a woman who fell off a ride at a christian carnival and fell to her death. And I hear all these accidents happening on roller coasters. I really wan't to go but it gets me thinking... Why am I scared now all of a sudden after I loved them awhile back? Will I fall to a tragic death like the lady did? What if my friend and his family wants to go on a ride but I don't? If I don't ride anything because i'm scared, then maybe I won't do anything else in life that's fun because im scared? Then it got me to thinking about Death, and how it lurks in every corner. I can slip on my bathroom floor, I can walk out and get rammed by a car. I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this in.

Sometimes it's important that we push ourselves into things we find uncomfortable and scary. Otherwise we never do anything new or fun.

Few things you need to keep in mind:1) The lady died at a carnival, which are built in a hurry and I could definetely see deaths occuring there2) The Six Flags in San Diego gets 2 million visitors a year - how many people have died there?> And I hear all these accidents happening on roller coastersI kinda doubt that, since roller coasters are pretty safe in general. ESPECIALLY in big places like Six Flags. They've been operating those things for the last 30+ years (maybe even more), do you think they'd still be open after all this time if people kept dying there?> Will I fall to a tragic death like the lady did?The chances are astronomically small that you will. So small I don't even want to type out the number.> then maybe I won't do anything else in life that's fun because im scared?Yes, that's what I've told a lot of people who were too scared to ride a roller coaster. There's really no reason at all to NOT ride a roller coaster (unless it's one that goes upside down and they make some people puke).> I can slip on my bathroom floor, I can walk out and get rammed by a car. You could. But you didn't today, did you? Here's the way I see roller coasters: They wouldn't be open unless they were safe. I used to be scared of some rollercoasters, but I just went on them because I knew I'd be fine, and the worst that could happen is me throwing up.I've ridden the (at the time, might have changed by then) tallest roller coaster in the world (which was 420 feet). Wanna know how that ride went? They shoot you out of the station, you go from 0-120mph (yes, 120mph!) in 4 seconds. They shoot you up 90 degrees 420 feet. AT the top is an arch where you come BACK down 420 feet and go back in the station. The ride is about 25 seconds long. But it was awesome. It's called Top Thrill Dragster and it's at Cedar Point in Ohio somewhere if you wanna look it up.While you're at it, look up the Millenium Force. 390 feet high, 90mph fast, etc. etc.Roller Coasters are meant to be fun, so enjoy it.

i think ur chances of dieing in a car crash are way more than dieing from a roller coaster. sizflags does have more to do tho than rollercoaster’s if u chose not to go on them. a couple years ago i went to 6flags over Georgia and we were there for a while then it came a downpour of rain while we were under the monster plantation cover....lol man people started leaving... we waited it out. after we got to go on wutever ride and there was hardly any long lines. btw.. monster plantation good ride to make out with ur gf (or bf)
