Period cramps

Bananas are supposed to be really good for cramps... You really confused me about the drug reference, I thought you thought I was some kind of addict or whatever. Any special reason why you aren't allowed to take medicines?

lol oh no sorry. my mother won't allow me to. I don't know why. but she tries to make me take this thing called DOLOMITE sounds like a battery commercial. everyday before I get my period but it's disgusting. so I usually just have tea or something. or scream it out. it gets so bad sometimes I feel like I'm actually giving birth. and I get pains in my lower back. I despise this curse!

I'm sorry and I am totally not trying to be rude, but your mom sounds like a nut. This is what I found on that dolomite: Quote:[edit] As nutritional supplementIn nutrition, dolomite is sold sometimes as a dietary supplement on the assumption that it should make a good simultaneous source of the two important elemental nutrients calcium and magnesium. However, since dolomites from Mississippi Valley-Type ore regions such as the Old Lead Belt and New Lead Belt in southeastern Missouri often include significant levels of lead and other toxic elements, users should always verify that such dolomite supplements are from non-ore regions of the world before ingesting them. Further, laboratory experiments conducted at the University of Alberta demonstrate that dolomite is practically insoluable in stomach acid and is eliminated from the body before significant magnesium or calcium can be absorbed. A far safer strategy is to avoid using dolomite as a supplement altogether, and instead taking equivalent amounts of milk of magnesia and calcium supplements. The chemical processes used to create such individual supplements effectively eliminate the risk of ingesting the toxic metals often associated with raw dolomite. Taken from here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DolomiteShe will let you take this shit, but God forbid you take a Motrin?? Fucking insane.

So, does the dolomite help? You should ask her why she's giving you this stuff.
-
It does help, when I actually take it. One time I didn't even know I had my period. But it's awful stuff. It's like dumping powder down your throat. and not the good kind either.

I have had ridiculously bad period pains since i started at 12, i am now 21 - there are days i wonder how i made it! The best description i came up with was a tennis ball covered in shards of glass inside of me. I also get very bad joint pain. so you are not the only peeps to suffer. I take two paracetamol and codine at the onset, get someone to make a hot water bottle - usually waking the entire house at 4am with my foul 'if you don't i will rip your legs off, possibly with my teeth' attitude (oh how my partner and his mother loved that one, thankfully i was in too much pain to be embarrassed)and lie down with a cushion between my knees and slowly force my muscles to relax, took a bit of practise, but is worth it. in winter is best, cause i can have two hot water bottles, one on my lower back, one on my front. where they stay all day (or use self heating pads if i have to go out. I also see a chiropractor cause it turned out my pelvis was squiffy, which didn't help. The pill (3kinds) didn't help either, the best is the implant and the pill on top. my period is two to three days long, adn not often painful. Don't be afraid to tell your doc that the pill is not stopping the pain. Phew what a rant! hope everyone feels better xx
