Hi, I'm new to this board, but not to exercise. I consider myself a very healthy and athletic person. I read a lot about weight lifting and every other athletic exercise I do, but I have never really read anything that applies to me. What I mean is that I am a runner as well as a bodybuilder. I'm pretty good at running (ran a marathon about two years ago at age 17) I keep up my running regimen by running between 3-6 miles a day. I also work out 4 out of 5 days. Obviously, that is a lot of running to do while also attempting to bodybuild. I don't see the results I could if I did not do very much cardio, but it is particularly important for me as far as my sport is concerned, so I keep it up. So far this summer I have succeeded in gaining weight. I am 6'0", and I used to hover between 196-198, and right now I weigh 201. I am happy that I am finally making gains, probably because I just rest all day and eat a lot. Basically my question is how other runners/bodybuilders have fared in both of these activities simultaneously. Any advice?Thanks,-Dennis

build your body in accordance to its use.Bruce Lee loved to work his muscles out, but his goal was to acheive maximum strength without the drawback of being heavier and losing speed. His reason was because he used his body for martial arts in which, among other things, speed and strength are very important. So he built up his muscles through definition body building and concentrated on not working out the muscles around his joints to keep mobility.Since you are a runner, I would recommend doing the same thing except concentrating on your leg strength.
