I know this has nothing to do with anything, but, is there maybe a driver expert on this site. One of my hardware pieces ain't working and I get cranky?

Installing an updated driver is indeed a good idea to try when that happens. Generally the first place you go is the hardware manufacturer's website. If that's not practicable, a Google search will bring up a number of sites that have drivers, some of which are free. What sort of hardware is it?

Okay, it's a rather older model external cd/dvd casing. I have insterted a cd-writer inside. It's a Para Drive 525 CD (I think it's from SCM Microsystems)I have checked their website, tried the drivers, checked driverguide, tried the drivers and nothing work. They Install perfectly but the device is not 'picked-up' or seen by the pc. http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa49/Tat-363/DSC00007.jpg http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa49/Tat-363/DSC00006.jpg http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa49/Tat-363/DSC00005.jpg http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa49/Tat-363/DSC00004.jpg http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa49/Tat-363/DSC00003.jpg http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa49/Tat-363/DSC00002.jpg

If you insist on an External setup look for a USB one as it should just plug and play.Even if that drive still works (cd/dvd drives have a 3-5 year lifespan usually) it'll be crap. XP/Vista would also automatically detect new drives, my computer doesent even have a paralell port coz its such an old thing

Yes I know! But my PC is full of drives, there's no more space. So when I got searching in the closet I found that and just thought...for a...moment...that it might work.
But I'm throwing it out! Right now!

Where would I get this?
