Alright, two more questions from Infinite 1. This past week I've been eating like crazy, only exercised for a one mile jog once this week and every day I do around 30-40 pushups and full leg lifts, sometimes twice a day. I've been consuming around 4000 calories in my estimation, yet I've lost over 10 lbs this week. That just seems crazy to me. At the beginning of July, I was 208 (im 5'7), and after two weeks of hiking in the New Mexico highlands, I came home weighing around 195. I adjusted quickly by gorging myself out on hydrated civilized food (so tasty... and wet!) and I'm at a loss how I lost five pounds after that too. Its been a week since that initial week and I've lost another 10. This makes no sense as I've been doing MUCH more intense exercising and ate healthily and barely lost any weight (or fat for that matter)2. Is there any way to suppress this raging appetite? I mean just today I've had a bowl of Cheerios, two yogurts (about 300 calories worth), a large sandwich, a mouthful of Cheeto's, and a few cookies... and I still don't feel full.-edit-: Thought I'd add that I've tried brushing my teeth so that I wouldn't want to eat more, and I've tried keeping my brace's rubber bands in so that eating is painful... but I just take them out... the stomach has more willpower than the mouth!

Two Weight Questions
-
In my defense I worded that wrong and omitted something that might be pertinent. Before I went hiking, I had been eating quite normally, no cravings, etc, and my exercising WAS intense, two-three miles a day and plenty of other exercises, but when I came back from hiking I felt that a break was in order.
I just dont know, normally I consume lower than 4000 and I exercised much more, yet lost comparatively less weight. But when I binged these last two weeks, exercised much less, yet lost a lot more. It just boggles me.
By the way I drink around five liters of water a day (also an appetite suppressant in previous experience, but not anymore) and while hiking I carried around five liters at a time and drank around twelve a day.
But thank you for the advice on the fats, that does make sense and I guess that in my crusade in healthy foods I overlooked that.
Another pertinent left out fact is that it actually is fat weight, not muscle weight. I wish I was 208 and muscle though :D.
Soon enough.

If I remember correctly, your body on average even for lazy out of shape people is around 2000 calories around 3000 I think for in shape people. You need 3,500 calories to make a pound. The guy you were originally talking to could probably correct me if I'm wrong. But I believe you're suppose to eat at least 14,000 calories a week. You're eating 4000 and less which means you'd probably be losing 3 pounds a week doing nothing. Depending on what your exercises are you could probably burn an extra 500 calories a day, meaning you could be losing over 3 pounds a week. which probably is a bad thing
-
Yeah, the normal value to consume is 2000 calories a day. If you eat less, you might lose weight, but that's muscle you'll be losing, and not fat. The only way to get rid of fat, is exercising (and then more of the cardiovascular kind)By the way... Quote:Is there any way to suppress this raging appetite? I mean just today I've had a bowl of Cheerios, two yogurts (about 300 calories worth), a large sandwich, a mouthful of Cheeto's, and a few cookies... and I still don't feel full.Maybe it's just me, but that doesns't sound like so much (not too much, anyway), actually, assuming the Cheerios were your breakfast and the sandwich your lunch.

I know and 2000x 7 = 14000 and 3500 x 3 is 10500 and if I read correctly he said most of the time he doesn't eat 4000 calories a week. of course I could just be tired and reading over it.
So if your body burns 14000 calories a week and you're only getting 3500 or 4000 a week. wouldn't you burn 3-4 pounds a week? -
Makes sense, which actually brings me to a question.because I'm in much more shape then my gf how would the calorie base burn since right now she doesn't do much. like example.20 curls would wear her out to where it would take 150 for me.So say 20 curles would but like 1.8 calories for me, would it burn like 4(yes random numbers I pulled out of my ass) for her because she's in worse shape and takes more out of her to do the same amount?
-
No, it's basic physics. It takes the same amount of energy to lift x amount of weight, y distance. How it's lifted, or by who is no different.
-
Well I figured me actually having toned arms and being muscular. except the bottom of my gut =/ that I would burn more calories doing it.But I figured. because of the fact it takes more out of her to do 25 curls then it does for me to do 50, it would probably burn calories decently.I know it'll probably take like half a year, since she needs to lose like 50 pounds. but I need to figure something where she can build her stamina quickly so she will actually have a slight urge to do something.I had no urge to exercise, but I decided to do it, and I was so drained for a week, and then it was like BLAM! stamina increase 300% woohoo! well... curling stamina.
-
so she will actually have a slight urge to do somethingThis is obviously her problem. There are no shortcuts to losing weight. If she wants to lose weight, she's going to have to do SOMETHING> but I decided to do it,This is what she needs to do.
-
Yes I understand that. But it has to do with mental along with physical and since she's emo on top of that. This is how she looks at when she does do a little bit.God I do so little I'm pathetic, why should I even bother. I was slightly like that.If she can go in a week or more from doing 20 curls to 100 she'll feel she's doing more progression and be more likely to do it.I know this from experience, she plays an online game with me, when she's only getting 2/3 bars out of 20 every couple of hours, she'll get fed up and tired of it and say screw this I'm not going to play for a few days. when she gets 7-8 bars an hour, she'll play all day.And It'll probably work the same way with exercising.
-
Look at your biceps, they're tiny! Now look at your legs, look at the size of those muscles compared to your pitiful little biceps*. You can curl all day, you're not going to lose weight.Make her run, make her carry that 100-120-140-whatever pounds of body weight on those big strong legs for 30minutes a day. That's a a hell of lot more energy usage than 10lb curls.*Note: this is not a personal jab at you, even Helm's biceps are pitiful compared to his legs. Even though he can probably curl more than most people can squat.
-
What part of my leg, above the kneecap or below, because below my kneecap and my arm around about the same size.Obviously running will be better for her, put lets try to get her in shape enough to run without dieing first. Plus you can't really burn weight off of just one place.I don't see what's wrong with working her arms our on top of other things like that. the curling was just one thing in general. If she works out with me, she'll be doing curls leg lifts squats I dunno about running yet, but maybe jogging in place to build up her legs to run some. and an hour or more of sex. should be able to get her started for the harder work outsshe ain't done to much lately.

http://www.fitnessonline.com/tools/calories/ this place says running in place for 15 minutes burn like 247 calories. Is that constant 15 minutes or. as long as you can (me like 10 minutes but gf prolly only like 2)or is it like do all you can until you cant and over 15 minutes you'll burn blah?
-
but gf prolly only like 2Alright, stop. Unless your gf is a very heavy smoker for a very long time, she can run for more than 2 minutes. She just chooses not to.I'll tell you again: If your gf doesn't want to do anything about her weight, NOTHING WILl HAPPEN. She (and you) need to understand that.
-
she was a heavy smoker, before she met me. she don't anymore. when I say these for 2 minutes, I mean generally without warn to the point she'll probably stop. And I'm not really judging how much weight she'll lose because I know it'd take at least a year prolly to see decent progress. I'm just trying to give her confidence.I know you probably don't think all these things will work, but I'm thinking they probably will. and really, I was asking about the site for my self really. Because I have to run in place allot before I start practice dancing. I just added her because she said she might start dancing with me.But if I give out that kinda detail per post, the chances of people bothering to read isn't real high
-
> she'll probably stop
.... Exactly. She CHOOSES to stop running because she gets tired/sweaty and doesn't want to do it. I dunno how many times we gotta tell you, but if she doesn't do anything and just stops after a few minutes, she won't lose weight.
> I know you probably don't think all these things will work, but I'm thinking they probably will.
Well you let us know what happens.

See what I'm getting at though, is trying to give her ambition to, she sounds like she really wants too, but no ambition. Kinda like I want to do my mathwork, but I don't yet see a real good reason too.If I can get facts straight like example her hiking for 15 minutes burning 360 calories yada yada. she's more likely to try, then if she see's. Doing this hard ass thing for 3 hours will burn 17.5 calories. If I tell her how much calories she could burn with easy stuff such as hiking or jogging in place, she's more likely to do it if there's a bigger number, and illusion more or less.Like when I wanted her to level up her character, she wouldn't until I gave her something good for something 3 levels over her, it didn't actually help her, other then give her a reason worth it to do it. And once she had a good enough reason she did it without complain and quite quickly.See what I'm saying, she wants to do it, but without ambition she won't it's like allot of people with discard throw chuck just give away pennies.1 is nothing 100 is small but 10000 is starting to get a decent amount. If I and 100 others throw down 1 penny a day, and somebody grabs them thats a dollars a day. or saving an extra buck or two because you didn't discard the penny.

\> she wants to do it, but without ambition she won't
I don't get it. She wants to, but has no ambition to? How does that make sense? You'd think that her wanting to lose some weight is motivation to do it?
\> Doing this hard ass thing for 3 hours will burn 17.5 calories.
No idea what you're referring to (and plus I know next to ntohing about calories and all that), but I'm pretty sure doing anything for 3 hours will burn more than 17.5 calories.
Now, I know, you were just exaggerating your point and weren't serious.
Why don't you take her to your local gym or YMCA and I'm sure they got some charts that show you how you can burn X amount of calories by doing this machine or that machine. Actually, just ask Helms, I'm sure he can give you some numbers that you can pass on to your gf.
Also, comparing leveling up a virtual character and losing weight are two TOTALLY different things. Sure, leveling up a character may be "hard" because you have to do something over and over again and it takes a long time, but losing weight is physically hard, so you can't really compare the two.
\> And once she had a good enough reason she did it without complain and quite quickly.
So apparently her wanting to lose weight is not a good enough reason for her to lose weight. -
Damn you've got a thick chest. Very impressive.
-
I know working out and leveling a vcharacter is completely different. But the point is ambition. At one point you couldn't pay me to work out, but then I decided hey, I should work out and look good for my partner, and i'll probably live better if I'm in shape. and I actually believed that. thus getting enough ambition. She doesn't believe that working out with something that burns 70 calories every 5-10 minutes, is going to help her much. So she wants too, but she basically gave up before she started.
