I've been eating healthier lately, replacing candy with more natural foods. I've also always had some problem with my skin, as I always have some acne on my face. But lately this seems to have changed. I've tried to eat healthier before and it never really made my acne better. But I compared my "healthier foods" to my "regular foods", and the main difference is: chocolate. When I tried to eat healthier in the past, I sometimes still allowed myself to eat some chocolate. So I was thinking maybe this definite absence of chocolate lately, is contributing to my skin. Also, when I think back of a vacation a while back, I was in Spain, and I got served all kinds of healthy food and the likes, but I remember I still had an acne problem. I also remember that each day, after diner, there was some dessert with chocolate.I really hope this means I've found out that for me, chocolate is the cause of my acne. I truly love its taste, but I'd be willing to give it up to be resolved of this problem. I don't know if it's truly possible though. I'm not completely sure, as it's only been a short while, and I'm still hoping that the acne won't be back in a few days. So could the old myth that "chocolate gives you zits" still be true? At least in some cases? If so, do you guys have any idea what in chocolate could cause this? And what other foods that have a chemistry much like chocolate should then also be avoided by people like me. Something tells me - though I don't know why for sure - that nuts are much the same... And maybe milk? A head ingredient of chocolate?Who knows, maybe this could help some other people too.

I believe there's no truth in the idea that fatty foods give you zits (though they may not be good for you generally). It's always possible, though, that you may have an individual reaction to chocolate.

How old are you?Chocolate and other foods do not cause acne. The reason is because acne does not involve fat. Oils get into your skin and bacteria feast on the oils. Where are the oils on your skin coming from? Pores, which is why pores get clogged with the bacteria vis a vis zits. The other main issue with acne is - if you're a guy - acne is a reaction of the skin to higher testosterone levels. Which is why during puberty guys get acne, and post puberty males who go on testosterone or steroids get acne as well. Your beloved food can still remain your beloved food, the idea is to find the source of your acne elsewhere in your habits.

you could be slightly allergic to chocolate, or there may be other factors. but your diet has nothing to do with acne
