I don't watch much TV...Does it REALLY surprise anyone that Wikipedia articles get edited by the people some of their articles are about!?!? CIA, Walmart. How does this REALLY qualify as news!?!?
-
This is part of why...
-
haha i agree, wikipedia isn't really that great a website. Once your a member you can edit any page. I once deleted a whole page and wrote PENIS in big letters. But the super nerds fixed it within 3 minutes and I was kicked off. So I had to make another account.
-
LMAO!!!!o shit thats funny
-
HAHA!Was that Rush's page..lol
-
In college (I heard from smart friends that actually GO), they tell you to NOT USE Wikipedia for any research on ANYTHING!! Main reason: It's unreliable.
-
Well of course, anyone can join and edit.I just wonder why the heck they thought it was news worthy. To me it was like the big news today being "WATER! It's wet!" who knew.
-
I swear to god I was watching the news one day."Studies show obese kids have lower self esteem" was announced to the world.
-
Is anyone else confused on this thread? You say "this is why I don't watch much TV" .... what is "this" ?
-
I getcha! I did find it sad though that there was a correlation with the drop out rate and all. Spooked me a bit about one of my kiddo's.SS, How is it news worthy to tell us stuff that we already know??It was a waste of a part of my day to listen to crap that we should already know...
-
Either I'm retarted (likely) or just stupid (also likely). What the hell are you talking about? Is there something you saw in the news that made you want to make this thread?I'm very confused... but everyone else seems to understand what you're talking about. I know I'm not that drunk...
-
Yeah, I got a blip on the news this morning that there are people from Walmart, the CIA, and other companies who go onto wikipedia and edit the pages that are about them.I found it insulting to my intelligence, after all, if ANYONE can edit the articles in Wikipedia, why wouldn't people go edit their OWN articles???
-
I think the case with people who have their own wikipedia shit is that they (usually) just correct inaccurate information. But for a perfect example against this: The owner (or one of them) edited his own wikipedia page. I can't remember the details, but there was two people that started it, and I think one of the guys came up with the idea of wikipedia (or something like that). Well, the one owner changed his article to show that he came up with it... or something like that.Like I said, can't remember the details. Fact is, the owner/founder edited his own page in order to make him more important
-
I don't watch the news for this anymore."what you post on the internet can come back to haunt you."I think it was around the huge "MYSPACE IS EVIL" craze started.. I got one to keep in contact with friends. I hate the thing.. but, I don't blame it for stupid users.. Myspace is a symptom of stupidity and lack of parenting.
-
Myspace is a symptom of stupidity and lack of parenting.Huh?
-
he can correct me if i'm wrong... but my thinking on it is he means that not every one on myspace is a dumb horney teenage (i threw the horny in..cuz that sall that bugged me were honey people lol) and kids that do wutever they like on there and stuff. like say a 12 ..13 year old telling a 17 year old he's hot and asking if he wants to see her tits....
-
ya, definetely a lack of parenting going on there!I was going to say something about parents here, then I realized I have no fucking clue how parents are supposed to keep track of 10 year olds, especially on the computer, so I deleted what I originally said and instead have this pointless paragraph. But one thing I still stick by: If kids in 3rd/4th grade want to get on Myspace that bad, they will. No matter what their parents tell them.
-
like say a 12 ..13 year old telling a 17 year old he's hot and asking if he wants to see her tits....And how is that the parents fault, if I may ask? I doubt the kids learnt about looking at 17 year olds tits from their parents.Besides, that just proves how bad the whole "sex and perverted" stuff has become in today's society. I don't see how parents are going to stop it.
-
I admit, I allow the 10 yr old on...BUT, I am THERE when she is on, I have her pass word, NOT HER...AND the only reason she is on is to talk to her sisters, and a few other family members. She has some celebrity "friends" but I watch that too. There are privacy locks on both my girls accounts, I also have the password to my oldest's account so I am pretty well "in touch" with what she does there...
-
no.. the 12 /13 year old asked me if i wanted to see her's. i was just saying wut i thought he was saying. lol i just used something that happend to me as a example. accurse i know kids can do shit under their parents nose…. and parents can't stop it. they can try but if a kid wants to their going to find a way.
