For any Fundementalists out there, the world wants to know. Why are you so unlike Jesus?Jesus was a liberal, you know.
-
Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.
-
Yeah, but Jesus was also Jewish. The man obviously wasn't perfect...
-
:open_mouth: Holy crap! lol. thats harsh.
-
Jesus was a Jewish hero that the world turned against them. He was a liberal and a liberator.

As a christian I ask myself this question alot. >.<
-
Java, I think that one is pretty easy. I believe societal connections based on national, local or political identity and ideology trump religious convictions, teachings or faith. In other words it's more important to belong to a humongous group than it is to uphold the teachings of the group. Then, couple that with time, growth and acceptance of the "new" status-quo and over the years little is left of the original meaning or intent of the group, or in this case faith.grabs stick and goes off looking for another pot of shit
-
In other words if you want to be part of the colony all you have to do is throw your life away!

I know this sounds dumb.. I dont know exactly what I belive in.. I dont know many of the details.. but I know that I do believe.. and that if I did NOT have Christ in my life today.. or if i did not have that belief to turn to i probably would have committed suicide a long time ago.You people bash my beliefs.. you put it down.. But it saves peoples lives.. there is a reason it is there.

"...all you have to do is throw your life away!"Not at all. All they have to do is just go along, rather than risk the consequences of dissension. More often than not, as long as it doesn't effect them directly or require to much of them, that is generally what most people do, I think.

I was refering to echelon
First song. And in all honesty if you are going to go along with things you don't believe in yourself (whether it be secular humanism or religion) Then ultimately you are not being yourself and sacrificing who you truely are to fit in.
You are throwing your life away to fit in.

I think it's because people dislike changing. It's a hard thing to do, just because Jesus reacted completely differently than what most people want to. How many people do you know that turn the other cheek?PS, if this post isn't very good, I'm sorry, it's because I'm low on sleep...

I think Ghandi said it best... when he asked that exact question

But it saves peoples lives.. there is a reason it is there. but it also takes away lives. a LOT of lives. For example: the crusades, the spanish inquisition, the witch hunts, the discouragement of condoms in Africa from Catholics (which results in AIDS, of course), 9/11, what many are calling now a 'Holy War' in Iraq and Afghanistan, and more. Plus, of course, there's Bush, who's a born-again christian and using his religion in his politics. In many ways, that's why I see religion as not a good thing in today's day and age. But, don't get me wrong, I believe that people have their right to believe in whatever they want. I'm fine with religion as long as it doesn't get in the way of politics/science. unfortunately, it always does, though. Religion + politics = apocalypse. and, sadly, a lot of people seem to think that that's a good thing.P.S. like your signature bobalicious. lol

Fruitless arguement. Anything that can be used to save and to help people can be used in equal measure to destroy them.Cars save lives (ambulences)They also take lives (car bombs)Internet saves lives (Afraid to ask)It also takes lives (cyer bullying)Nuclear power can power a city. Or alter the entire population (Chernobyl)All of the above are products of science all of which were created by man. ANYTHING that can be used for good ultimately has a negative side which can be exploited. Basic law of physics. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.Pointing this out for religion seems a bit fruitless. I am not in anyway defending extremist. Infact I dislike extremist as much as the next guy all I am saying is that ultimately there will ALWAYS be an equal and opposite reaction.

What's with all the Anti-christian threads lately? I seriously try to avoid them, but it seems like these or, pro-gay stuff is becoming very abundant. What gives?? Are there that many unanswered questions that we should have to substantiate?
-
you too right?here we go again. where's my popcorn?
-
Guys with all do respect this is the least "anti christian" thread I have seen actually dealing with religion.I think we as followers of christ have to ultimately accept this one truth. We are nothing like christ. We are FAR more petty, uptight, and anxious to tell everyone else they are going to hell.I think unless we accept that and actually move towards being more christ like then we ultimately fall back to the way we were before him meaning we although we believe we don't truely follow.Even demons believe.

I think this is what makes a massive difference in people and usually decides who will be religious and who won't. Religious people except the things that they are told (by their religious leader), you don't question it, you don't need to since you have faith. A non-religious person questions everything, not just religion. You think we're attacking Christianity? I think you're not paying attention. We question everything, we question your beliefs and we question our own.We choose to not be sheep, we choose to risk living in a world without a God. As Pink showed, some people are weaker without God. But some people are stronger without Him.
