Kamau Kambon went before congress and spoke out claiming the only way to solve the problems of the world is to elimination of whitey.Japan. I don't think any of us here hate anyone else because of the color of their skin. I don't associate with racist. If you have a problem with my friend because he is black you have a problem with me. I don't tolerate racism. However, let me paint a story. Guy named rob is black. He feels I owe him something because I am white. Why? Because Bob. Who is also white did something to his great grand father 70 years ago. What do me and bob have in common? we are both white. Thats it. We aren't related, we aren't freinds. He did before I was ever born because he was disembowled and eaten by a wild tiger for being a racist asshole.yet, rob has no problem with holding the fact he is black and I am white over my head as if I should feel guilty for it. I didn't know bob. I'm not related to bob. Just because I am white I should have to attone for bobs sin?Sorry. thats racism. And ultimately you are saying its ok.

Comedian's show stopped. He used the 'N' word

I'm sorry, maybe I'm in a pissy mood this morning (Mondays will do that) but instead of you and Abi both laying down blanket statements, PLEASE tell us where we are wrong? Especially in my scenario, where am I wrong? Please tell me what I did wrong so next time I don't provoke these types of responses when I am just doing my job??I think people like reading more into people’s posts instead of taking them for what they are. It just frustrates me that people cannot have a mature debate about racism without getting offense and telling the white people "they have no clue". If people cannot respect other peoples opinions than they shouldn't even start in on the thread...
-
That's exactly what I want to know.
Tell us what we said was so wrong? I simply stated what I go through on a daily basis, how I'm simply doing my job, and yet there seems to be something wrong with that. Explain it to me. Don't just copout and say "You wouldn't understand" or "you don't have a clue", explain it so I will. -

Maybe then his kids would have better opportunities. Racism is more than calling somebody nigger or making them drink from a different water fountain. Even when all the inequities of classism and segregation are gone the effects of those policies are still going to be felt for generations and denial of that fact only serves to prolongate the residual effects of this nations racist history. The hurt of the institutionalized societal and governmental racist policies of the past are not something that is going to disappear over night. The injuries will linger for a good bit of time. Suspicions will linger for a good bit of time. Trust will suffer a certain incapacitation for a good bit of time. And every time some dumb redneck come along and talks about, "how stupid you are", or "how lazy you are", or "how you can never be anything", or you have a cop follow you around for no good reason, or have the store clerk never take her eye off you, or whatever other infrequent little happening there is that brings it back, the wound is re-opened. Then right or wrong, the little thought path in your head is redirected and all over again you think, "Ya know, I really can't trust these people". It's not right but it's how you feel. I can tell myself consciously, "it's just these three cowboys" but I don't feel like that is reality. Every time, I hear some random single person say, "these ndns are to stupid to..." or "I just bought that stupid ndns land for a quarter of it's value", or when you pontificate on about our issues and don't have any understanding of them or, for that matter, care to learn. I don't feel like I can trust you. I feel like it's all of you because I never, really, know who to trust among you. It's like someone who was abused or sexually molested as a child. The perpetrator may be locked up or dead and gone but the victim will always carry those scars. Every time someone approaches them the first thoughts are going to be, "what are they going to try to do to me... try to get from me... or how are they going to try to use me". It's not right but it's a well learned defence mechanism that's there for a good reason. Just because the last five people you opened yourself up to have been good to you, doesn't mean the sixth is going to be beyond suspicion. Your scars make you apprehensive and prejudice to humanity in general.I'm sorry to every single white person who feels I'm erroneously impugning or vilifying you. Because, your right, I'm without a doubt wrong but I don't know how to get passed feeling the way I feel. Even though I may never consciously act on, or because of, those feelings, that doesn't make it right but they are there and it is the reality of the situation in which we live and that, ultimately, is the legacy of American racism.

I'm sorry to every single white person who feels I'm erroneously impugning or vilifying you. You shouldn't HAVE to apologize. Quite frankly you should not have to feel the way you do. I am by no means saying that its right. To use your analogy. The molested child has every right to put up his defences. We as a society have to be sensative to the fact that child has been wronged and patience is rightly deserved with that child. My problem isn't with the children who have been molested. I am not saying we need to scold the people who have been molested for being molested. I am saying we need to take care of the people who cry "rape" when there is none.Anyone who really has been a victem of racism then I can honestly say I feel sorry for you. That was wrong. Its not right on any level and its not justifable on any level. While its understandable to have those defensive mechanisms in place and perfectly justified you have to realise that those feelings can go both ways. After hearing people use the race card since I was born how do you expect me to react to it?We all ultimately have to learn to adapt to the different scenerios. I am just tired of people assuming racism is black and white and if your view is slightly different form what "socially acceptable" your wrong. Because ultimately in an attempt to stop racism we create new breeds of it.
-
Please note I'm using "you" in a generic sense and not necessarily speaking about you Nny.>>>"You shouldn't HAVE to apologize."Sure I should. I'm guilty of exactly what you said you have a problem with. I tend to hold you all under a cloud of suspision because of your race. That makes me a racist. That's not right, but it's reality, and I hope I've done at least a little to explain why.>>>"You shouldn't..."For what it's worth, this is something I think most folks in general fail to realize and it doesn't help the situation. It's not "you" and "I". You and I are generally fine. It is, to coin a phrase, "you'uns" and "us'uns". That is to say, when your brother (racial speaking of course) causes injury to our sister, we all feel it because we all know what it feels like. While we may have never met our sister it still serves to reinforce our feelings and suspitions of mistrust about all your brothers and sisters. It's a societal thing not a personal thing. I've walked in both worlds, both ndn and white, and I can say that there is a sociatal closeness among all minority peoples, I think, that the dominate race doesn't seem to realize. When one of yours injurs one of ours, we all feel it.I'm not sure what that goes to explain, it's just something I've noticed.>>>"After hearing people use the race card since I was born how do you expect me to react to it?"(First, as a minority I will say, don't use the term "race card". It's generally used to belittle and dismiss any claim of racism without judging that claim on it's on merit, just like "it's because I'm black" is often used to condemn without merit. I think the term its self is rather racist in it's use to automatically dispatch any claims of racist treatment, as simply being without warrant and without need of further consideration.)How ever you want... but I would hope you withhold judgement because many times it's true, just maybe in ways you don't fully understand or appreciate. That's in no way a condemnation of you just a statement and admission that races don't understand one another near as much as they think they do, and I mean that in both directions. Now, having said that, I do think minority races need to do a better job at policing themselves with some claims of racist treatment. How they do that, I don't know. It is our job though, not yours. You, as the dominate race, can not tell us when we are injured and when we are not. As has been demonstrated time and again, on this board and elsewhere, all that does is breed resentment and serve to promulgate the problem. In my personal opinion, I think, domenant races should be more understanding in and open to claims of mistreatment based on race and minorities should be more aware of how they make such claims and what it is they're making the claim for.
-
Nny, what the heck are you talking about? Seriously. Who are you talking to and what are you talking about? Since when did any of my posts did I say that racism was ok? Not once. Matter of fact I didn't even approach the subject. I simply stated you guys are stating some ignorant things. Most of it is true and I agree but still some things mentioned are ridiculous. That's a fact. You act as if I didn't know blacks can be racist. You're telling me? That's funny. I'm the same girl who was abused by her own uncle because of what I am. Honestly, I don't need a lesson babez. But some of the things you guys are saying are VERY VERY ignorant, rude, and shocking and you need to reread some of the things you've said and if you don't find anything wrong with it then I can't help you.
-
Abi you know I love ya but...
I don't find anything I said to be wrong; it is my experiences and something I have to deal with every single day. But give us examples of where we are wrong, and what is right. You and Kristal keep saying, "you are saying ignorant things" but not giving examples of where we are wrong.
-
Wow, I can't believe some of the ignorant shit I have read here.Scotty, your posts are so well written and informative, yet people still do not get the point. Are they just not reading your posts?

Quote:For what it's worth, this is something I think most folks in general fail to realize and it doesn't help the situation. It's not "you" and "I". You and I are generally fine. I believe thats the problem. On a personal level we are fine with eachother as you said. On a personal level I understand that you have been a victem and why its easy to say "Oh wait. this isn't right on any level what so ever" and I can respect that. Likewise you can understand my side of it and I would to so far as to say my friends side of it.I don't want to use the term "race card" again because as you said its use to just dismiss any claims of racism without actual thought. I however, am trying to think of whats a proper term. All I can really come up with is "crying wolf" You can understand I have seen people "cry wolf" and even had people "cry wolf" about me. So I think we can both respect eachothers side of it on the personal level. As to judgment I reserve that for a case by case basis. After middle school there wasn't nearly as many people complaining about it. And now Its really something thats not herd of at least for the moment. When it arises I will judge based on facts rather then emotion or preconsived notions. However, like you said its when you take it to a society level. Quote:In my personal opinion, I think, domenant races should be more understanding in and open to claims of mistreatment based on race and minorities should be more aware of how they make such claims and what it is they're making the claim for. I absolutely agree. There are certain boundaries that your just not suppose to cross and limitations we all need to watch out for.Japanfan. If you have a problem with ANYTHING I have said feel free to point it out. I can discuss my views all day long. However, your going to have to make a better comment then "thats stupid and wrong"If you have a problem address it.However, I should point out you have said "thats ignorant and wrong" a few times without actually addressing anything. Please at the very least point something out that is wrong. If we are really that ignorant enlighten us. Took me and OldFolks a while but, I think we are finally beginning to see eye to eye on this issue. If you ever want anyone to see eye to eye with you on this your going to have to talk about why you disagree in detail.
-
first you started off with this: Quote:We might have to have "ethnical reeducation camp". For you there helms. Don't you realise white people are the ones who can be racist? That's fine I don't care. you're tying to be funny. TRYING. more power to ya. Quote:but, there is something that's always been unfair, nowadays. whenever a black man says "cracker" nothing happens to them. but it's the white people who say the "N" word who are considered racist. I think that this is unfair. I mean, the black man is never considered a racist (which many times they are just as racist, or more racist, than a white man), but the white man is considered a racist very easily.what a lie. Quote:I think the reason white people are not offended by "Cracker" or "Whitey" is because there is no negative history associated with those words. There was never a 'Cracker drinking fountain' and no one ever said 'White ass crackas move to the back of the bus'. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand the deep feelings associated with the word nigger.Lisa's intelligence is bliss. She mentioned something you've failed to realize.and yet... Quote:You have no idea how wrong you are with the "white ass crackas move to the back of the bus" comment you are.and as to the "nigger water fountain" I'm sorry ... I think I should go ask around my school "excuse me sir your black and your about 20 years old let me ask.. have you ever had to drink from the nigger water fountain?". Most of the people in todays society have never had to deal with true racism.I think I have been a victem of racism just as much as anyone else in todays society.you completely missed her point.and this? Quote:Ya know. I don't hate all black people. However, what has made me resent black people more then anything else is middleschool.are you friggin kidding me??? wow! Quote:However, don't think for a second that I find it fair a black child can say in class "THE WHITE MAN CAN SUCK MY DICK AND I WILL PUT A CAP IN HIS ASS" and everyone just turns the other cheek. While if I were to say something along the lines of "thats fucken racist" then everyone is going to jump up my ass and talk about how I shouldn't be swearing in school.another lie. Quote:You seem to think its a bad idea to judge based on the children? I have to disagree. If CHILDREN who don't even fully comprehend what racism is are running around crying "OMG ITS NOT FAIR BECAUSE I'M BLACK" Just to get their way. Then that means their parents are probably teaching them racist views from the get go.once again you have no clue. Quote:Never had a teacher say anything? Please I have had more shit for brains teachers then I can count. One just hated me for no real reason. One just argued at her white kids and never EVER repremanded the black ones. (no racism eh?)and you think this only happens to you? I've had an asian teacher try to expel me out of her class because I argued with her on why the Holocaust should have been more effective all over the world. Then she called me a hapa porch monkey and threatened me. You were saying? Quote:He is just as tired as I am of hearing about how "black people don't have it fair"And scoff all you want to about my comments on the kids I went to school with. However, I assure you so long as we hold the double standards we hold no progress will ever be made.So long as children are taught that they should be treated special (white or black or blue) because of the color of their skin. We are going to continue to have racial issues.I mentioned this before and I'll mention it again. There was a teacher on cspan who was openly talking about the "call to eleminate the white man"Had that been a white teacher he would have lost his job.hullabaloo. I can't even go on reading some of the crap you've said. I have a headache just trying to get through it.If anything, Oldfolks and Lisa are the only ones that made sense. Everything you said just made me more and more angry because you have absolutely no clue at all whatsoever. I am so very VERY sorry. That you have had to experience racism. I am friggin 16 years old and I have been experiencing it since the day I was born. Black people are racist against their own ESPECIALLY when it comes to skin color. Did you know that itself is a battle right there? Do you even know about the every day challenges dark-skinned people have to go through being treated badly because they are DARK and not beautiful and light resembling the white beauty? Do you have any idea how many black girl friends I have who HATE the way they look and can't stand looking at themselves because they are considered ugly, they are treated badly because they are "too dark", they are underappreciated. Every race plays the race card but you are taking things way too far. Just because SOME blacks feel the need to call each other Nigs doesn't mean most do. And you know, it's alright, I wouldn't expect you to understand what if feels like to be called a Nig and why it might offend somebody. I would be offended if somebody called me that because it's NOT RIGHT. It's worse than being called a btch, it's worse than being called a crcka. I don't care what people say. Cr*cka is a FAILED ATTEMPT to "get back at the white man" for calling him Nig. Doesn't make it right but it also doesn't have the same effect and impact. Please stop acting like you know. If you did you wouldnt' be talking the crap you are right now. and according to your "logic" if I treated and thought of white people based on my experiences with them I'd be one heck of a racist now wouldn't I. But I'm not. I don't let the stupidity of SOME people deter my image of the majority. My sister is happily married to a white man adding an Australian and Italian family to our family tree. I'm not going to start judging just because of what bad experiences I've had earlier on in my life. No one is the same. So don't JUDGE them all the same.I'm done. I have homework, I'm hungry, and I'm tired, and I don't have time for people who think it's "stupid" for people to get offended by the N word. Here's some advice. Next time tell them, "don't get offended, it's just a word, not like it means anything."
-
im sorry i just need something cleared up about this Quote: and you think this only happens to you? I've had an asian teacher try to expel me out of her class because I argued with her on why the Holocaust should have been more effective all over the world. Then she called me a hapa porch monkey and threatened me. You were saying?what do you mean by " the Holocaust should have been more effective all over the world"
-
ewww it's you!! Spying on me werentcha!I meant effecting. effect people alot more than it did. since basically, this-loser-of-a-teacher-don't-know-how-she-got-her-degree said "in her opinion" that she doesn't think America and part of Europe should have made such a big deal about the Holocaust and kept the problem to themselves just basically letting Germany deal with it, and that they were only increasing problems and hostitlity between their enemies. And I told her nicely...well sorta... that that made no sense because Germany was the one that was torturing the Jews and quite frankly every able nation should have been up in arms against the threat of Nazism. Since it had gotten to the point of practically eliminating an entire race, that should have effected more nations on how serious the matter was. But it was pretty unkown until discovered so I guess it makes senseI was just angry at her lack of sympathy
-
oh wow, what dumbshit would let that idiot teach children?, but thank you for clearing that up because with the way that sentence was phrased it sort of read like you thought the Holocaust as a plan or "final solution" shouldve been more effective meaning you were in favor of exterminating every non pure german race which sounded completely absurd so thank youand i am not ewww ya dirty ho!
-
you know what... suck my big toe!
-
ya know what? SUCK MY BIG CO.......ne.... yeah big cone....

ya nasty!

Quote:what a lie. Its ironic you shoot down my personal experiences because they are just that personal experiences, yet you seem to feel so justified in stating that I am wrong because of YOUR personal experiences. Quote: Lisa's intelligence is bliss. She mentioned something you've failed to realize.and yet...Fine I can admit when I am wrong and in this case I am wrong. There are no deep embedded feelings on behalf of white people for racist comments that go any deeper then regular words. Quote:are you friggin kidding me??? wow! My point is that in any racially charged situation its very easy to develop a disposition to not care. If I hit you in the face with a mallot every day for 4 months straight at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. What do you think is going to happen on the next day? its a bit extreme but, it makes my point. Quote:another lie. I'm sorry. Since when do my personal experiences automatically become lies? I'm sorry but, its happen. Just because you don't want to believe it doesn't mean it didn't happen. Quote:once again you have no clue. Please I'm not fucken retarded. If this were ANY other subject you would be agreeing. Its been proven that children hold on tightly to the beliefs of their parents. So sure. I'm clueless. Quote:and you think this only happens to you? I've had an asian teacher try to expel me out of her class because I argued with her on why the Holocaust should have been more effective all over the world. Then she called me a hapa porch monkey and threatened me. You were saying? I was saying that the teacher let a black student hit a girl, cuss in her class yet, when whitey holds a conversation even though the class isn't doing anything he gets in trouble.I don't condone racism on any level towards anyone. Is racism towards a black student worse? yes its definitely going to strike a deeper cord. However, you can't over look racism towards a white student just because its towards a white student. That is the point I am trying to make nothing more and nothing less. why you fail to comprehend this I don't know. Quote:If anything, Oldfolks and Lisa are the only ones that made sense. Everything you said just made me more and more angry because you have absolutely no clue at all whatsoever. I am so very VERY sorry. That you have had to experience racism. I will give it that OldFolks makes sense. OldFolks is willing to listen to my side and see eye to eye. If you had followed the thread you would see that ALOT of the statements you quoted me on were rough at best and after discussion and explaination of my side and me listening to the other side I was better able to express them in later statements. Quote: Black people are racist against their own ESPECIALLY when it comes to skin color. Did you know that itself is a battle right there? Do you even know about the every day challenges dark-skinned people have to go through being treated badly because they are DARK and not beautiful and light resembling the white beauty?Your probably going to think this is a lie so I don't even know why I should mention it. However, where I live the black culture is dominante. Even in the "white" parts of town. There was actually a white chick who used skin tanners to try to become black. Quite frankly your right. I could never comprehend wanting to be something I am not or being critisized for being something I am not. Because I am honest with myself and thats who I am. However, the "ghetto" culture which I am going to assume you detest is thriving. And by "ghetto" culture I am refering to the kinda retards who use the word you detest so much against their own kind like they are eating cheerios.Whats sad? These are the trend setters.I don't even know my own heritage. Could be german heritage. Could be french. heck Could even be american indian. It honestly doesn't bother me because I don't care. I can't be insulted because I don't even really know. Quote: Just because SOME blacks feel the need to call each other Nigs doesn't mean most do. Your right. Most people have the sense to know that all it is good for is creating trouble. Quote:And you know, it's alright, I wouldn't expect you to understand what if feels like to be called a Nig and why it might offend somebody. My point about cracker is simple. Failed attempt or not. Racism is racism. It was born of the word you hate. As long as its around. the word you hate is going to be around. We have to either deal with racism as a whole or not at all. Those are the only options. Quote: and according to your "logic" if I treated and thought of white people based on my experiences with them I'd be one heck of a racist now wouldn't I.Thats not my logic. Thats the point I am trying to make. Quote: But I'm not. I don't let the stupidity of SOME people deter my image of the majority. My sister is happily married to a white man adding an Australian and Italian family to our family tree. I'm not going to start judging just because of what bad experiences I've had earlier on in my life. No one is the same. So don't JUDGE them all the same.I never said I do. the point I am trying to make is not everyone has the same mentality as you or me. Alot of people do begin judging everyone the same. Quote:I don't have time for people who think it's "stupid" for people to get offended by the N word. Here's some advice. Next time tell them, "don't get offended, it's just a word, not like it means anything." Ok this part pisses me off. I NEVER ONCE said its wrong to be offended.Earlier on you said OldFolks is the only one making sense so if your that hellbent on not listening to me then listen to OldFolks who expressed the view I have been trying to make all along.Niether side knows as much about the other as we would like to think. and what you ABSOLUTELY FOR NO APPARENT REASON refuse to believe are my personal experiences. Why? I have no idea. However, if your going to call me a liar then its not like I'm going to have any influence on you either way.

But give us examples of where we are wrong, and what is right. You and Kristal keep saying, "you are saying ignorant things" but not giving examples of where we are wrong. Maybe I can go a little was in explaining why you get the reaction you do.So, sit back kiddies it's story time.I come from a fairly wealthy family, probably not what you think of when you hear the word "wealthy", but they have more money and freedom to do things than I'll probably ever know. They were all professional shoppers before that was actually a profession. Mom and granny would go shopping about every weekend and always come home with a car load of clothes or art, half of it to give away to friends and family, and mom usually bought a new room of furniture every few months. They would go to Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Kansas City, Chicago, New York and occasionally London. More often than not, when I was little, I got drug on these weekly or bi-weekly shopping sprees. Now here is where this becomes applicable to this thread. Mom and granny are ndns. They're not typically people you would look at and think "money", even if they are dressed better than you, their skin color trumps it. They shopped everywhere including the best, most exclusive stores. It was common place for a store clerk to come and walk around behind them, watch 'em like a hawk, but not offer, or be of any help. It was also not uncommon for them to be told that, "(they) might want to go down the street to shop someplace that may be more in (their) price range". Beyond that, it was not uncommon for them to be asked to "not touch the merchandise" or to be asked to "leave the store". That kind of treatment gets old real quick, even to me, who was just a kid along for the ride. It's also note worthy that the more nearby we were to home the worse and more common that kind of treatment was.Granny's method of dealing with these snooty bitches was generally to pull the 10 grand she kept pinned down under her bra strap and tell them "well I bet they'll take my money over there" or something along those lines. Mom, on the other hand, was a lot more confrontational and not afraid of making a spectacle of herself and demanding service. I remember one time, when mom and granny got done that way, mom got the clerk fired on the spot and only the manager form then on attended to any needs they had, but that was only after mom place a call to the owner. What you have to understand is, even if like in this case, you can get what you want or, even, get the clerk fired, that kind of treatment still makes you bitter. Now imagine you get treated that way but don't have the money to make people give a shit. If you don't have the money the owner isn't going to be quite so concerned about how the clerk treats you. Imagine you don't have the money, you go into, not even an exclusive store, and get treated like you don't belong, or are nothing but a shop lifter, or are going to rob the place. All the while, the white patrons come and go as they please. That's really going to make you bitter. Now imagine this happens no once or twice a year but several times throughout the year. The more your treated that way the more compounded the problem becomes. It only takes being done that way a few times to make you short with everyone that questions you. It doesn't make the reaction, you get, right but it's why it is what it is. Getting treated like that eventually jades how you react to people. About the only time I get done that way is when I go some place with my cousins, because I can pass for white. Gun shows are the worst though. The few times I have to deal with that treatment directly have made me defensive with people who I think are questioning me to much. I went through that just a couple weeks ago at an ranch auction I was attending.Granted it's the wrong reaction to have, but what needs to be remembered is, it doesn't take being treated with suspicion and contempt to many times to build that kind of a reaction into a person. I can tell you exactly what goes through a minorities mind, when asked for more than the norm, and that's, "here we go again".

I can understand that, but what am I supposed to do when I'm just doing my job?
