I guess I don't expect anyone one here to care, but I used to post on here a lot (as username 000). Anyway, I'm a bit older now and have begun to realize that my brain hasn't been developing as it should. I had no idea why that was happening for a while, and then with some research and some self acceptance I was able to realize that the accident I had when I was about 7 was doubtlessly severe enough to cause the sort of brain damage that would cause these sorts of difficulties.I fell off of a moving U.P.S. Truck. I don't know exactly how, but somehow I managed to land squarely on my forehead causing a serious concussion followed by severe nausea and memory loss. To this day I still have a slight indentation where my head hit the pavement.I was basically wondering if either anyone has suffered a similar sort of injury, or if anyone knows anything about the subject enough to provide some advice or help. It's been very difficult living with these sort of deficits. I have been considered for and placed in special education all throughout my public education despite having a fairly high IQ(~140).I have looked into "Frontal Lobe Syndrome" and it seems to describe just about everything I've been struggling with.I can understand if no one here would know enough about this seemingly vague and hard to diagnose type of damage. I am probably going to see a neurologist soon. I have some doubts, however, as to how to present my case.Thank you to anyone who might be able to help or at least offer some support.

Frontal lobe damage?

To provide a little more information, I spend most of my time sitting at home thinking to myself. I have a few friends but I've always found it really difficult to interact with them. I have a hard time, in fact, interacting with anyone. I realize it may seem weird for a smart person to complain of brain damage, but the problems I have are so specific and so hard to deal with that I just don't know what to do. I suffer from short-term memory loss, lack of focus, and I find it nearly impossible to organize my life and plan ahead. Once again, I'm not expecting anyone here to know how to handle this sort of thing, I just thought it would be best to provide as much information as I can in the hopes that someone would know anything.

Sort of unrelated, but seeing as I used to post here back in '04, '05, I remember a lot of the good people on here. I remember how much you helped people and so that's why I decided to come back. I think it's great how most of you are still on here. It's sort of impressive to see how much you really care about helping people.

Welcome back!I don't know anyone who personally suffers from that but I know a lot of people including myself who have had a serious concussion. Has a medical doctor determined that you have this or is it something you think you have?

I second Roc's welcome back. The difficulties with planning do suggest frontal lobe damage, but it will take a proper scan to be sure. I'm surprised, given the accident and the need for special education, that it hasn't been done before. Did they just assume autism or something like that?

Can you give me examples of some of your issues/problems?

To be honest asking people on this board to diagnose a brain injury is ridiculous. See your doctor to diagnose this.

I have been alright since then but I tend to have memory loss when I am psychologically upset about some thing or some event. Severe depression sometimes causes small blank spaces in my memory. I have already seen few neurologists about this, done many scans to see if my brain is in good condition, taken tests as well. Every result was normal. I suffer from BPD (borderline personality disorder) and have been under treatment since many years. My IQ is above average, I shall not type any scores as IQ tests and results are not reliable. I have difficulty in being social though I am not awkward about it. I have many talents and lack focus. I cannot stay without doing anything for too long. My attention span is very unreliable. I am a very fast learner but in the end I leave everything incomplete as I lose interest. I have been having problems with short-term memory and I am currently exercising my brain to get rid of this problem.I always worried I had some kind of brain damage but in the end everything proved to be fine. I only had psychological problems. Get a few tests and scans done to determine if you really have Frontal Lobe Disorder (Dysexecutive Syndrome). That's all I can advice. I did the same to get rid of my doubts.
