Ok. im now scared. i have just turned 15 and have today hopped onto the scales after about 5 weeks (when i was 13.5 stone/189pounds) and now am 14 stone/196pounds! WHAT HAS HAPPENED? i haven't eaten as much as wen i was on hols in august. went 13.5 stone came back 13.5 now have eaten less and have actually shot up 0.5 stone! I am really scared now because i don't want to be fat and heavy! I go to the gym at least once a week because i have other commitments during the week such as duke of edinburgh, light/sound crew and stuff like that. i try and go out on my bike as often as i can and am trying to eat good stuff rather than junk food. Any advice on how to loose at leat 4 stone? i am really scared about my health. thanks guys.

On holidays you tend to be more active. If you are putting on weight, you are eating more calories than your level of activity needs. Either you have to exercise more or eat less or both. You might find it helpful to eat more high-protein foods. Protein gives more stomach satisfaction than carbohydrate or even fat. A boiled egg, for example, makes a snack that will fill you much better than a Mars bar, and for longer.

also, you may have gained muscle. Muscle tends to weigh more than fat, so if you've been physically active, you may have gained some muscles... 5 lbs of fat takes up the same amount of space as 25 lbs of muscle just so you know. Also, you doing all these heart healthy things just may have caused muscle growth. I know that each year, when I start out in band or tennis or whatever, I tend to gain some weight... it's not because I got fat, but because I gained muscle. Riding your bike and going to the gym are things that would cause muscle growth. I'd say that you're not getting fat, just muscular.

I don't know... I doubt after five weeks the person gained 7 lb worth of muscle... it took me two and a half months to gain 20 pounds but that's just me and my individual body. Though I guess...20/2.5 = 8/1I'd say A month is enough to gain seven pounds. Never mind
