The morning after pill? I had sex with this girl this past weekend and I didn't notice the condom break during intercourse. Afterward she assured me that it was not possible to for her to get pregnant at that time, but would not tell me why. There was no bleeding so I'm certain she was not on her period. She also told me later that she took the morning after pill. How effective is the pill and also, what other reasons other than being on her period could there be for her to not be able to get pregnant at that time?

The effectiveness depends how soon the pill is taken. The longer she waits, the less effective the pill will be. Generally, she must take the pill within 3 days, no later. The percentages are here, although I think it may be outdated. As for your second question, the only thing I'm thinking of is infertility and when she's not ovulating. It always depends on each woman, but there's always a chance of pregnancy.

Ok, how accurate is that site? Isn't 89% going to reduce it to 11 out of 100 women getting pregnant? But anyways, maybe just a typo, and I'm not entirely positive, but is it talking about a specific morning after pill? Or is there only one available? And It's also good to know that it can be taken up to 3 days after. I wasn't sure how soon it needed to be taken. She apparently took it later that day. I wasn't there but this is what she tells me.

No, it's talking about all EC in general. If you knew what brand she took (Plan B is the popular brand), you can look on it's main site to see how effective it is.If she took it the same day, then she reduced her chances to almost zero.

Thanks much, that's a bit reassuring.
