Yes, thank you for clarifying, but I just thought he knew since he was the first to respond to my post. That's what I get for thinking.

So Cal Burning
-
How bad is this thing? On a scale from 1 to 10: 1 being a broken pipe in your basement and 10 being Katrina.
-
There is a map of where the fire was, and is.. Sixth photo down on the left click on the photo. To enlarge it.
For Bob, there are some 100,000+ acres burned that is a pretty big fire. Winds are pushing that kind of fire front into populated areas.
-
Damn, dude. I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm being sent home early and we're told not to come into work tomorrow, so I think this thing is just getting heavier.
-
Ugly...Hang tough, good luck down there, and keep us posted!

I live in southern california, in the suburbs of L.A. So there aren't any fires threatening us right now, but we can smell it from here. And it's VERY windy. I was walking to school today, dust blowing into my eyes, and breathing in the smell of smoke. It was really dry too. But, I remember that a couple of years ago there was another big fire. the sky was brown, and it was literally raining ashes. You looked up and could barely see the sun shining through the smoky air. There's always a lot of fires in California, but this is a really bad one, especially since it's so windy.
And also, maybe about 5 years ago there was a fire in my city, in the hills. And about 10 years before that there were some other fires in the hills behind our house, right when I was born. I of course don't remember, but we had to evacuate. The fire was literally just beyond our backyard.
I hear that school might be out tomorrow, but I doubt they will where I live.

My son and I just went to check out the Fallbrook fire and evaluate. I saw skeletons of homes in the hills fully engulfed in flames. 1000 acres and 100 homes gone in fallbrook.... and on the move. 5 miles from me. Very unnerving. We have important things packed. Unfortunately I have to drive to Vegas tomorrow to deliver a very important piece of equipment for a trade show. I know.. what's more important. But it would be disastrous for our company to not have our system at the show. Who would have thought this would happen. I'm driving there and then comming right back after a rest. Good Luck San Diego.

This is very bad news. Could I urge you to get family photos and similar irreplaceable things into your car? If things get worse you may not be allowed to go back to your home.
-
I woke up this morning watching the news and it finally hit me how bad these fires are. More areas are on fire than I realized and that includes the Lake Arrowhead area. It's really sad because I've been there a few times and it's a beautiful place to visit. When I left for school, I was able to actually see the heavy clouds of smoke being blow in my direction. These fires are miles away and yet we are starting to see the damage. It's reported that these fires won't be contained until Friday. What's worse though, more fires are breaking loose. Yesterday, a fire broke out near Magic Mountain Pwy. Insane.Hope you San Diego folk are hanging in there.
-
Sorry to hear such bad news about your friends. I hope they're safe and in good health.Best of luck to you when you go out there! Hope your wife is doing well also. These things are really getting ugly.
-
I left for Vegas this morning at 4:30AM through Orange County and was listening to the emergency chanel on XM radio. Fires are breaking out in Orange County and I had to take other freeways becasue some were closed. At Fontana, I drove through a shower of ashes being blown across I-15 by very high winds from a smaller fire along the freeway. That was creepy. I drove past the Arrowhead fire going up the Cajon Pass about 6AM and the smoke flowing down the mountain was like a waterfall.
I left the rental here in Vegas and am flying back. My wife is freaking out because the Fallbrook fire, 4-5 miles north of us is still out of control and new ones have broken out farther out to the east of us. SO I'll be back about 5-6 for another restless night.
-
I hope it never comes near. Experience here is that houses in remi-rural areas are vulnerable but in more urban areas fires travel more slowly and are more easily contained.
-
I hope all you guys are okay
-
I hope you and your family stay safe.
-
I was just informed, by the bitch I work across from, that the reason you all are burning is because your governor, Arnie, signed into law some bill that says school systems and preachers can't speak out against homosexuals. So God is raining down his wrath on you for your liberalism, like he rained down his wrath on New Orleans for its crime and debauchery. I feel so blessed to live in state where intelligence is so sensibly and conservatively rationed._______________________________________________________________That ain't at you lish. you were just a convenient name.

Honestly, it is better to have more than less...ask Katrina victims. They have our crews down there trying to help you guys out, and I am 9hrs away from you. Our burn bans are back in effect not because we haven't had the rain we need up here to lift them, but because our crews here are skeleton crews, and they are afraid that if a bonfire got away from someone, we wouldn't be staffed well enough to fight it.There ya go again So Cal, first you take our water, now you take our fire..lolInfo I have is, that Friday is "the day". Weather is supposed to be on the fire crews team then, but still ugly until then. I sure hope it is better before then! Not to mention how much weather the fire creates for itself!!!
-
The problem with the weather in some areas is that if/when the winds change to onshore flow, the winds can blow the fires back east onto some comunities.
-
damn, I could say the smae thing Utah has several fire teams that specalize in wildfires in cali now and they take our water as well, the bset part is that the shit set up to sell them water is called CUP-central Utah project and its bene in place for fucking years.
I know my uncle lives near SD, La Mesa to be exact, last night he said he was 8 miles from the fires but his xwife is 3 miles.
He also told us to stop bothering him and get off his ass hes fine and if anything changes he will let us know and to choose one person to call daily if we have to he doesnt have time to take 6 calls a day asking the same question with no other conversation.
You OK? fires nto near you? Cool, just checking up on ya. 6 times a day I guess is a bit much but atlesat its all different people calling him  -
The hope is that the onshore will push it back into black country. It may be easier to defend communities if there is less wilderness that is left un burnt. I do understand that the fire made its way around some communities, and there is a chance that changing winds won't do much with a "nature made back burn".
