I like that fact that your facts are supporting my statement, while opposing yours. You said the U.S. was the fattest country. Now you're saying that it's the ninth, which would support my statement that the U.S. is not the fattest country. The exact same thing goes for the education.Just because you say that a first grader in Japan is smarter than a sixth grader in the U.S. doesn't make it true. Why don't you study up on your stuff before stating it? I have. Do you even know one of the major differences between Western education and Eastern education? Also, on the custom subject. You said that being fat and stupid were the customs. I guess you could consider eating a lot of food being a custom, but not being stupid or fat. You're arguing against your original post, not mine.Oh, and by the way, steaks aren't bad for you. It's called protein. Sure, eating fifty steaks at once (hyperbole) is bad for you, but so is eating fifty salads at once.

It's a fact that the US is among the most overweight countries. those 8 fatter countries... 7 are Pacific islanders and should be excluded. It's well known that the US education ranking is pretty low for industrialized countries.http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/11/26/world/main530872.shtml

Actually Japanese people eat alot... ALOT! They have like 8 friggin meals a day lol. I remember when I was with my homestay family I was never hungry. I ate all the time. And the meals are TREMENDOUS like jeez! where do they put it all!
-
Did they eat alot becasue they were hosting guests or do they eat like that all the time. Maybe your perception was skewed.

Oh no they eat alot! The point of our homestay experience was to live like they do. Go about our everyday lives as an average Japanese teenager. Including, going to school, going grocery shopping, growing fruits, picking leaves, cleaning, cooking, and EATING! lol there's like a meal for everything. the thing is, their food is so incredibly healthy so it's not like they're going to gain 50 pounds from all that they eat. I remember when my homestay sister and I had come in from cultivating outside with the grandfather she asked if we wanted a peach for a snack and we were like yes please. Their peaches look NOTHING like the ones here lol. Ours here are small and orange. Theirs are huge (size of my head huge) and white and pink. I was like are you sure this is a peach lol. They eat alot but they just eat really healthy. Even when we went to the business lunchroom the meals they offer are full course meals. At the Japanese High Schools the lunchrooms serve full course meals. Even when we went camping in the deep deep forests of Yamanashi we still had to make a huge full course meal (WITH CHOPSTICKS! don't ask....think I poked someones eye out) with only the fire and wood that we made and the water that we caught from the springs with little fishies swimming. It was tons of fun camping. Never felt so good to be dirty and grimy lol. But yes, they do indeed eat alot. I even took a picture of the dinner that we had made for our group.

Not once did I argue against the fact that America is overly obese percentagewise. In fact, it really ticks me off that no Presidential candidates have mentioned it. I was arguing against the fact that it is the fattest country in the world. No more, no less. I even made sure to check statistics to see whether it was or not. The same goes for the U.S. being the dumbest country.

I went to China last year and stayed with a homestay in Donghan Village (it's known for its paintings by farmers and whatnot), though it was mainly for the nights and mornings and not the whole day. The three nights we were there, we were given so much food. It just kept coming and coming. It was kindof odd, too, because they didn't eat with us, just kinda got us food and filled the plates up, as well as the glasses with Pepsi >.> Although they did eat with us once. So I was wondering if your homestay family ate with you? Anyways, during the homestay I was truly full for the second time (first was a dumpling banquet, yum) cus the food was just that good. Thanks to it, I know slice up my tomatoes into small pieces and put sugar on them, and that shit is good! After those few days, I was full the rest of the trip >.> And chopsticks are fun, which is why I was already pretty good with them before going there (a couple good Chinese and Japanese restaurants around). We were supposed to pick a peach and eat it, but they were all kinda... not ripe... Although I think I did have one of the white peaches, and those were good. And man, the egg drop soup was so much different there. The common soup part of it was usually corn-tasting, though there were others like tomato flavored, which was good too. Anyways, I could probably go on about it. I don't know why some of the people didn't like the food >.> It was so good.
