although i dont agree with him about whether or not you have to have a certain time frame of smoking to get addicted, i do feel he has a point, people and their bodies are different, my friend sam smoked 5 cigs, really enjoyed them, and within a month he was addicted, the next day after smoking he asked me if i could give him some more, so i did, and unfortunately hes been smoking a pack of day since that month, but it goes to show how easily influenced people can be...and what makes it different between the two of you is, just the fact that you two are both genetically different, blood lines, hereditary addictions, as well as a number of other things have to do with addiction, including free will...

Parliament Lights
-
Perhpas a lot of it might have to do with how much one smokes too. If you smoke just one a day as opposed to a pack a day has a lot to do with it too.
-
yes i do agree with you, i also agree on WHAT you smoke... from what studies show, certain cig's are healthier for you than others... for instance, parliament lights are like, one of the healthiest cigs that you can smoke... ALL CIGS are unhealthy, yes, but if your gna smoke, these are the ones you should smoke... newports and marlboro reds/broncos, are the worse for you to smoke... well in general menthols are the worse for you...
-
I know, I said that like 10 posts ago. Addiction affects everybody different.I was pretty much calling sdp's statement stupid that there needs to be a certain amount of time before you get addicted. That's ridiculous.
-
Well I (speaking from personal experience only, of course) have varied from smoking a pack a day for several weeks to one pack a week and have even gone about 4 months without touching a cigarette. But maybe I'm just weird. My smoking habits are often dictated by the people I'm with. I'll smoke with smokers and I won't smoke around non-smokers.Or maybe my body adapted to the long periods of time without smoking because I used to have to hide it from my parents so when at home, I'd go a long time without a smoke. This is all confusing, someone should do a study on the habits of irregular smokers.

What makes you so different than me that you can take it or leave it but I supposedly can't? My age? Com on, seriously. IDK .. ask someone who is hooked on them. There are plenty.
-
I'm asking you, because you're the one who told me I haven't smoked long enough to be hooked on them. Obviously you know something I don't about this, and I'd love to hear it.
-
Can you not just both agree to disagree? It seems like you're just trying to push a needless argument.Sorry if I'm speaking out of place.
-
OK better words should have been...Maybe you haven't smoked long enough to be hooked on them.. there are no absolutes. Sorry
-
I'm not trying to push any argument, I just want to see why sdp thinks he can tell me that I simply haven't smoked long enough to not be addicted to cigarettes.
He's basically saying you haven't smoked long enough to be addicted either. It seems like he can't believe the fact that some people just aren't addicted to cigarettes.
-
I'll settle for that.
-
I'm not saying that.. I do think that if one smokes long enough and enough quantity, he will get hooked. I've smoked off an on for 20 years and I'm not hooked. But I've never been a heavy smoker either. I'm sure there are plenty of variables.
-
Well we all have different opinions based on our own experiences, but stating your opinion as fact to someone else is not cool.
-
wow, alot of action since ive been gone... hmmm, i can agree with pinky, it was hard for me/is hard for me to smoke sometimes, cause i still live with my parents and that may be why i can go without cigarettes so easily... but we will never know truly why...unless someone would like to break us into a molecular level and analyze the atoms that our genetical system possess(i think thats how u spell it)... any takers?
-
Here's an experiment.Smoke a pack a day for years and then stop cold turkey. If it has no effect on you, then you da bomb. LOL
-
that experiment is going to take to long, and cost to much... how about this, you let me cut open your heart and lungs, and ill slowly feed nicotine and tar into it, ill feed precisely the same amount as a pack a day, x 730 (equivalent to 2 years) then i will reinsert your lungs and heart, and then i will ask you, (after the surgery is complete, and the local anesthetic has warn off,)to quit smoking that same exact day... and i will write down your actions... and/or any seizures you may have... so when should i schedule this appointment of ours?
-
Umm yeah, that makes sense.
-
I know i havn't been thorugh what you have, but really: fuck cigarettes. They smell bad, fuck your lungs, and can cause cancer. If you really can stop them with no problem from addiction, i'd ay do it. really, are they that fun?
-
After a good dinner? Yes.
-
plus a nice couple of hits after getting laid is great as well, they also make for great conversation with other smokers, at least with teens... i dont really smell the smell of good cigarettes, when it comes to reds, and marlboros, Eh! disgusting, i hate that smell, parliaments have a strong smell, but they dont smell bad, newports are kinda leaning towards reds... camels smell ok... lol and i seriously think that im going to stop smoking soon, i just want to get my GED first, then ill stop, because im going to be working a shitload, and saving up my money, so i need to save as much money and time as i can...
