I have been having problems with what I believe to be is a reoccuring yeast infection. A couple of days after my period every month, my vaginal area becomes itchy, red, swollen, and i have a great deal of discharge, ranging from watery and thin to thickish white. Sometimes it looks like i have small bumps also. I often even have a discharge that is actually the consistency of gelatin - it is stretchy, clear/whitish in color, and reminds me of stretchy glue or something. This has been occuring for several months now. I last had sex about two weeks ago, but before that I had not been sexually active for about 6 months or so. Is is possible that a yeast infection could keep coming back like this? Or is this something else? And why would it occur for a week or so after my period? TY!

Re-ocurring yeast infection? Or something else?

This may sounds like a silly question but you didn't specify...have you gone to a doctor or tried any medication? If no, you need to go see a doctor.

no, have not tried any medication yet, not sure what to try? also noticed some bumps near my vaginal opening. they are not painful at all.....any thoughts?

Honey, why did you wait so long and not tried anything? You can try Vagisil or any other yeast infection medicine. But I think because you waited so long, it's probably best to see a doctor and they'll give you antibiotics. And of course, don't have sex until you're cured, since you can pass a yeast infection to a guy.But what kind of bumps are they? Are they big or small? Are they red or irritated? Do they itch or painful? You gotta help me out here.ADDED:I just realized that you had this problem before and acutally posted about it. You said you'd go see a doctor. What happened?

well, the reason i never saw a doctor is because of my parents. call me chicken if you want, but if my parents ever found out that i was having sex and needed to be tested for STD's and other infections, they would disown me. i mean, they lecture me aobut leaving dirty dishes around the house. and i'm 22, almost 23, and its like they always have to be up in my personal business. its pure hell, basically. but i cant live like this anymore, wondering what is going on. i think i am going to call my docotor tomorrow and make an appointment. then at the appointment i am going to make sure that everything is strictly confidental. unfortuanly i am under my parents health insurance until december of this year. and my work won't give me health insurance for months becuase they only give it during a certain time i guess. i would go to a planned parenthood or something, but i really don't need to see p.p. mailing me things and my parents finding it. NOT good. oh, and the bumps. well, they are small, red i guess, not really painful or scaby or anything. seem to be there one day and not the next. could they just be irritation from the discharge i've been having?

NOT good.I can tell you from personal experience that Planned Parenthood will not send you anything. They hold a strong confidential policy. The only way they will contact you is through a phone call and they give you a "code name" to protect your privacy. And they will only call if they find something wrong in your test results (if you take any). Besides that, they will not send anything or call you at random. So, you don't have to go to your family doctor if you're worried about someone finding out. Plus, you're an adult. I really doubt that any doctor is going to call your parents about your visit.I go to Planned Parenthood myself for my feminine health. I suggest you find one in your local area and make an appointment. I'm happy with them. If you shave, they sound more like razor bumps.
