What do you think of it?Do you think it can really cure any mental disease? It's used as a treatment for people who suffer from melancholia.

Music Therapy
-
I doubt it provides much more than temporary relief.
-
I think it's great for a quick relief of stress or to "soothe your soul", so to speak. But can it cure any mental disease? Doubt it in the long run. And this is coming from someone who lives and breathes music.
-
I agree, the long-run benefits seem a little iffy to me, but as a treatment for immediate, temporary relief I think it could be wonderful.Mental diseases usually take more the Beethoven to cure (if they can be cured at all) and are often caused by hormone imbalances that require medication, diet and exercise regimes to improve.
-
I highly doubt it could cure ANY mental disease. Maybe something really minor though.
-
I think it could, to a degree. Take two people, only allow one's radio to play happy music, the other only gets morbid depressing music. I think after a year or two you'd notice a difference.
-
It can definitely help, but the word cure has no place in music "THERAPY."
-
sure ti does! metal cures disco!
-
I'm not too sure. Musuc in terms of itself and my community and my music, no. But I use it for inspiration and getting my love and idea of my BIP worked up while I'm on the train as I'm riding back home. I also use it sometimes to get anger out, but, like today, I used my myspace blog for anger instead. Music is more of an "gain inspiration and the feeling of creativity pumping through your blood" kind of thing.

i think Music could be a Therapy type thing just like art and writing is, but it can't be a cure. i really think anything that helps you deal with shit is Therapeutic.

Yeah. Trippy shit. People that go with out any kind of music also have higher chance to go insane - well with out any sounds of silences; that's why people talk to themselves: to fill the void.I was watching Discover Africa and they were talking about how they can use music to make people walk, talk, develop cognitive ability etc. so I do think it has good uses.
