I have a really bad problem with zoning out. It only happens when people are talking to me though. In school, if the teacher is talking and I stop following for even a second, I seem to zone out, and not be able to get to the point where the class is. This has really been affecting me. I have a test tomorrow. I know most of because my friend helps me. But I just can't keep focus anymore. It's really annoying. Also - I don't change what i'm thinking about. (i.e: Teacher is talking, I don't zone out and start thinking about what I'm doing on the weekend, I'm still thinking about what is being said. Just not following along.)So I guess my question would be - is there any way I can stay focused? And - It has never been a problem of mine, untill a few weeks ago.

Zoning Out.

Sometimes it can be lack of sleep and food.
Try for one night getting at least 10 hours of sleep. If this requires going to bed at 8:30 then do it. Also remember EAT breakfast before school even if you don't feel hungry try to wake your taste buds up by having something sweet like cereal or fruit. See what happens, if the problem is solved then there you go. If it is not then make an appointment with a psychologist and ask about ADD.

Well, I do eat in the morning, and normally it is a bowl of cereal. Usually only get about 7-8 hours of sleep though.

All I have is the Instant stuff in my house. Besides - I only overload on sugar every morning. Put like 4-5 spoonfuls of sugar into my cornflakes. Thats not to much is it?
-
Go with grapes and/or apples. Maybe some OJ or milk. I never have an appetite in the morning mainly because I go down to eat at like 6:30 AM. That's why you just gotta like force it down. In school we have snack machines so like right after 1st block I go down and get some pop tarts and a water and eat it during class. That's usually only if I didn't have breakfast.
-
I've tried many different things. Tried just apples. Nope. Cornflakes with no sugar. Nope. Thing is though - I have a 200 Minute morning (3 x 65). So, say I eat an apple, I usually bring something small such as a granola bar for the morning.

Might be the teacher's teaching style versus the way you learn best, but considering this is the first time you said it's happened that's kind of odd. I have all sorts of potential suggestions, but it's really tough to say without knowing more or talking to you face to face.In the mean time, if you don't find a way to stay focused, then study. Read the textbook if that works well for you. Take notes in class if that helps and read them later. It's all about finding what works for you, but it's still tough for me to say.Another thing that's already been pointed out is your breakfast. You need to eat less sugar and more complex carbs, fats, and protein. It's unfortunately a common problem and there's so many "everything you need for a balanced breakfast" statements out there that are a lie. You need something that will supply you with energy until lunch. I normally have Carnation Instant Breakfast blended with a banana and something else, including: whole grain english muffin with peanut butter or with ham and an egg, sometimes whole grain cereal though if I do that generally I need to eat a bit sooner in the day, etc. Try bringing snacks with you to school. If your teachers will let you munch on something during class (banana, granola bar, whatever) then that's a good way to go I found.Anyways, try switching up your morning breakfast habits (no more sugary cereals, I can't believe how many years I ate those for) then tell us how it's going.

It could very damn well easily be the teachers style. It happens the worst in Science. Hmm...
