Well, sort of. A ton of my stuff is still at the ranch, including the RV.So, I was getting stuff out, as I could (remember, I have a little teeny car!) Well, about 3 weeks ago, they decided to change the lock on the gate, and I haven't been able to get in since. Well, last week I get an email from the mom, wanting me to get the slides in so they can move the trailer for tree trimming. OK, no prob, EXCEPT as I told them before, I can't move the slides until I get the furniture out. I need a truck, and I will need 2 trips..at least! So, I get another email. Because I didn't respond to the first...I already had told them what was up. 2nd email says basically the same thing, except that she will be home around 3ish...I respond, get my girls home from school and head out there. AND HIT A LOCKED GATE!!!!They have been in this VERY small community for nearly 60 years. So, they know most everyone in the sheriff dept. The daughter went to school with half the community, and I feel like I don't have a prayer if I were to do what I am legally entitled to...Cut the lock, and haul off all my stuff. Penal code 484, and Civil code 789.3, give me the right to MY property. There is a rental agreement, and until they give me a 30 day notice, and that time expires, I have rights to the property. This is all about the fact that I am moving on, that I found my man, and we're living together, that I am not at their beckon call now.(Mother has been single and celibate for 30 some odd years, and the daughter is 41 never married, no boyfriend now)They decided that they don't have work for me, that they want me to produce cash for the electric (UNHEARD OF BEFORE!)What do you guys think? Is it worth the gamble with the law? Or should I play these games until I win.(win, as in, have a few friends with trucks come load it all up including the trailer and be gone with it) I am leaning towards the games, but you know how exhausting it is to play them.I am afraid if I get the wrong officer, I could just be playing the games with the law too. Another battle I don't want.BTW, the reason for the wealthy comment, they are getting ready to close their first multi million dollar deal. It's been 2 years in the making. Seems like that is a big part in the attitude change too...

Dealing with the "newly wealthy"

If you have a "written" rental agreement and you are not violating the agreement, then I think you should cut the lock and get EVERYTHING that is yours out of there in one shot. It's kind of dumb that you haven't done so yet after how many weeks? You know what kind of lady she was. I'm not surprised that they are F'ing with you now.

It has been more of an issue of gathering "the troops" to get it done in one shot. I've had to do my research on what my rights were, and that took a while, because I had to dig through the codes. As soon as I get a few extra bucks, I could rent a Uhaul I suppose. There are at least 3 truck loads, between the furniture and my tools. Plus, someone to haul the trailer. (There is more than that but I figured if I don't over load the trailer with small stuff, I can fit a lot of it in there).IF I had a good officer there, I could make a few trips, but without one, I need to do a sting...IDK, just a lot to plan in either direction...

Nope, in order for the agreement to remain valid, I simply have to prove that I was rented the address, and that there isn't a 30 day notice served.NOT to encourage it, but even if I hadn't paid rent for 6 months, I am legally entitled to the property until they serve me a 30 day(and then I still have 30 days of access to get off the property), after that, they have to get a judgement to remove me/lock me off, which really could take another 45 days.AT THAT POINT, I would still owe rent, PLUS legal fees, and have a judgement against me, and they could attach wages or what ever to get their bucks. NOT PRETTY!!!Though, that isn't the case, I worked for my rent, and have not abandoned my property, I am out once a week at minimum (even hitting a locked gate)...Contract is still valid. They have my mailing address...bla bla bla, so they could have served me properly. As far as law here, it's erm, sketchy at best. Thanks everyone for letting me get it off my chest, typing it out, helped sort it out.U haul, One friend, with a truck to tow the trailer, and I can be off in about 2 hrs at worst. I also figured out how to get them to open the gate....They sell hay

I dont know if u said that you had another month of rent to pay or not. but if you do.. they can use your stuff as leverage.
-
we have electricity to pay and thats it I believe. we didn't pay property rent so we are good there.
-
No, even if I owe rent, according to California Civil and Penal Codes, they can't legally hold ANYTHING for collateral. If they do, I can sue here for $100 a day that I can't get to it. Though, it is tough to prove they took it.

You are so smart! Good luck hun.

If I were so smart, I wouldn't be in this mess!!But, it was a stepping stone, and I am already gone from there with more than I had when I arrived.
