I've read that the warts you can get on your hands are from the same virus as genital warts, HPV. Could I transfer the virus from a wart on my hand to my gf's vagina? Is it possible I have HPV, and could give it to her through sex? I'm seriously confused.

Warts?!

There are over 100 strains of the HPV virus. The ones you get on your hand are one strain. The one that causes genital warts are a different strain. many don't cause warts at all. Various strains of warts have a preference as to where they will grow. Technically, if you have warts on your hand/fingers and they are shedding the virus, you could transfer the wart to the vaginal are if it can grow there.

Some sources even put it at over 200, but there doesn't seem to be any overlap between common warts and genital ones.See the table here.

True, but with an active cutaneous wart, would you want to take the chance? Cutaneous HPV types do not usually cause genital warts
