I wish I did. We've been busy with redecorating our house, so it's a mess with the paint baseboards, moved furniture dust and all, so we were going to have a very low key Thanksgiving. But a friend called us over so we said OK. We got ready and left. My son went in a separate car so he could leave early if he was bored. he went to get gas and used my ATM card, gave it back to me and he said "Go I know the way". 5 minutes later, he calls saying he had an accident. We turn around and head back.. he took a different back country road with lots of curves. Well the asshole was speeding, hit a sharp curve and couldn't hold it, crossed over into the opposite lane, sideswiped another car, ripped the other cars rear wheel off, the other guy goes over the embankment and rolls once while my son careens off to the right into the embankment. The other guys BMW is totaled, I'm assuming the Honda he was driving is totalled (left front is crushed)(and it's his GF's car since his car died)... but thanksfully neither of them were seriously hurt. After they towed the cars we took him to the hospital to get checked out becasue his chest and neck were hurting. Bad muscle strain but that's all. A fraction of a second difference and they could have been in a full head on collision. We're thankful that they got off with no injuries. The guy in the other car was pretty cool about the whole situation. I apologized to him. What else could I do? I'm just ranting and pissed. My son said "Just kill me now" when I got there. I didn't kill him but he got a backhand across the face. Oh well... fucking kids.

Did everyone have a nice Thanksgiving?
-
After reading that, I'm honestly speechless. I'm so happy that your son and the other driver are safe. It's stories like these that make me really nervous when my brother drives.
-
At least it was his girlfriend's car, and not yours. My thanksgiving was alright.
-
Sorry GF.. I meant grandfather.
-
Damn kids--always speeding. Hopefully your son have learned his lesson.
Anyway, sorry about your Thanksgiving :frowning: -
He was speeding.
-
I am glad no one was seriously hurt. Hopefully he learned something!
I am terrified of handing over the keys to my kids.
But as for my thanksgiving, it went off without a hitch! I only served 15 instead of 19 like I thought. Didn't burn, break or damage anything YAY!
-
Why? Becasue he wasn't injured and I could see the whole story from the skid marks.Others have said he drives too fast, we've yelled at him about it, I old him to not drive that road becasue there are many accidents there and very sharp curves. Of course I'm thankfull, but damn fucking right he got a backhand across the face.

Some cars already have a speed limiter that you can set to whatever you want. The trick would be making one that only the parent or whoever can change.
-
Yeah, but even with a governor, what are you gonna do, set it at 10mph, so that they can't even make a right hand turn to fast?
-
Well, get on it!!! What are you waiting for!?!?! My kid will be driving in 2 years!!!
-
I'm glad neither of them was seriously hurt, sdp.I worry about my older daughter. Her driving lessons (barely started) are on hold at the moment after she totalled the car by driving it into a tree (at low speed, fortunately). I'm afraid that next time it will be an oncoming car.
-
Someone else suggested go-karting too - it sounds like a good idea.
-
after she totalled the car by driving it into a treeHow did that happen?
-
Turduken was delicious!
-
She is not good at steering, and she badly misjudged a tight turn, all too quickly to stop the car in time. Only the front side hit the tree, but it was enough.

My Thanksgiving was pretty good, ate way more than I should have but hey thats part of the Holiday. All was well until later in the evening my sister called and told me that our 16 year old brother accidently smashed a wooden bat into her 6 year old son, my nephew's, forhead. She had to rush him to the hospital where they did an immediate MRI, thankfully everything checked out okay. But I have never seen a bump like that before, it was over 4inches across the forhead and at least rose 2 inches off the forhead. Poor boy, but thankfully there was no other serious injury. Though I could just choke my brother for not being more careful when little kids are in the same room.
-
Oh my gosh....glad everyone is ok.

That sounds like he was very lucky indeed it wsn't worse. That must have been a big knock.
