Make sure you and your friend have a written agreement about cleaning, cooking, bills, etc. There's no one right way of doing it, but it's important that you are both on the same page.

If you're paying bills by bank, create a joint account with both your names on it instead of choosing one of your accounts. This prevents people getting stuck paying them all.If you have any issues with bringing certain people over or what types of parties (if any) that you like having, put it out at the start. Neither of you want to regret this move as it can be a lot of fun. Other issues:Food. (Sharing or individuals. Labelling seems anal but is very handy.)Drinking.Smoking.Drugs.Etc...

Already some good advice given. I'll just add that try not to take any sort of issue for granted. It's always the issues you don't discuss (because you believe you already know the person that way) that will be the ones that cause problems. Discuss everything before-hand...no matter how trivial it may seem. Odds are you'll find some surprises.FWIW, marriage is the same way in this.

You say you are financially OK.. Have you guys written down a budget of expected expenses? Sometimes people might be surprised how much day to day living expenses add up...
