So my girlfriend stopped using the pill at the beginning of November because she ran out. She would always get her period at about the 5th of the month and it's now the 15th of December and she still hasn't had her period. She's taken 3 pregnancy tests and all of them were negative. I know that it's not uncommon for your period to be late when you stop the pill, but it still worries me. Two questions then:- How common is it for people to miss/be really late for their periods after stopping the pill (She's taken it for about one year.)- The pregnancy test should be correct because she's late for her period, right? The last test she took was about 10 days after we last had sex, so that should be long enough, right?

Pregnancy tests should usually be taken after the missed period.

I've been on birth control for almost two years. The first year, I was on the patch. I remember for a month I went without it, and I was still able to get my period on time. So, for your girlfriend, it could be her cycle went off a bit without the aid of hormones or it could be stress.
