Hey gang. Not sure if anyone will have any answers for me but I’m trying to find a way to corrected rounded shoulders. I spend anywhere from 10-12 hours a day in front of a computer, most of that is at work so I cannot avoid the computer. I have noticed the last year or so I am starting to develop rounded shoulders because of this. My posture is of course starting to suffer as well. I have gone on-line and the best thing I have found so far is this website: http://www.badbacks.com.au/shop/product/521/oppo-shoulder-braceNot sure if something like this would actually work and/or help correct rounded shoulders. I have gone to a Chiropractor in the past and he gave me an exercise to do to help with the posture but I never seen any positive development. Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated. Last thing I was is to be a hunchback by the time I’m 35.Thanks in advance

Well I have worked in an office setting since I was 19, so over 8 years now. So 8 years for about 10-12 hours a day takes it toll on the body.As for the exercise, I did it for about 2 months and didn't see any results.

Also the chairs we have here at work really suck when it comes to posture support; my boss buys the cheapest chairs he can find.A good friend of mine told me to buy a chair like this one: Ergonomic Chair Not sure how well they work to posture support. But I think it would force me to stop crossing my legs while sitting, it's one of my worst habits that I know kills posture.

Go lift heavy weights for a bit, focusing especially on your back, and do not stretch your back. Your muscles will thicken and tighten, pulling your shoulders back.Ever seen big muscular mean with really curled shoulders? That happens when you work your chest too much and don't stretch.

Just to further the information in this thread, what kind of lifting do you do to work on your upper back or shoulders or whatever?

Deadlifts, rows, shrugs and lat pull downs. That's my typical back day, plus curls.

Start using a Swiss excercise ball for an office chair, if they let you. Some companies don't want a liability on their hands if you lose your balance and fall off.Concentrate on posture while you're at work, and take 5 minutes to stretch at the end of each hour

Thanks everyone for the information. Starting this New Year I'll be working with a personal trainer and I'll have him concentrate on my back and shoulders too. As for the ball idea, I doubt my boss would allow it. But I know he'll approve the kneeling chair I linked before. I know that would at least stop me from crossing my legs and keep my back straight. So you guys thing the brace I also linked before wouldn't be of any help??

I try and remember to stretch when I can. Sometimes I get wrapped up in my work and I end up forgetting. I'll try and remember to stretch more often.Again I appreciate all the info

Thanks, I'll look into that
