Hello, all. I got some scary news today that made me want to get some input here, and I truly appreciate the time you take to read this.My girlfriend and I have been dating for two years now. Early in our relationship she discovered she had HPV. A few months after we discovered this, I found a small red bump on my penis that stayed for about 4 or 5 months (treatment got rid of it).Flash forward to now. Neither one of us has any visible signs of HPV, and we have been having protected sex every time. She got a call from her gyno today saying that they found some "abnormal cells" from her pap test.I'm really nervous about what it could be (HPV or worse ). Can anybody provide any sort of feedback about experiences that they have had with HPV?I have already read numerous websites about HPV, but I really want to read people's experiences with it so I can compare what we are going through. Also I just want to clear up a question about HPV that I have gotten mixed feedback on. Does the HPV infection (not symptoms) stay with you for life?Any help/feedback/suggestions would be incredibly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance.

Concerned about HPV

HPV is a lifetime infection. However the body can eliminate or subdue the virus and it can become dormant. If she has had HPV and she has an abnormal PAP smear, it isn't surprising at all. What kind of HPV did she have? The wart type?

I believe she had two or three, but as I said neither one of us has had warts for months now. When you say it isn't surprising, how bad is that?
