when i get up from a sitting or lying position i often feel really dizzy (almost to the point of passing out) a lot of the time it hurts. i have passed out from it before and i often have to sit down or hold onto something to keep from falling down. i've heard this happens to a lot of other people but for me it seems to be a little extreme. what should i do about it?

Dizzy
-
See a doctor about it.
-
i did about a year ago, but it keeps happening and it's getting fairly annoying. do you think i could get any permanent brain damage from it?
-
I don't think it's causing damage, the question is why it's happening.
-
ive never passed out from it but a couple of years ago it used to happen to me a lot, i usually lost my vision for a few seconds and it felt like there was some pressure behind my eyes. scared the crap out of me each time, but i just ignored it and it went away. i was lucky it wasnt serious, and if it happend now id be str8 down the doc's to see what was up. id suggest you do the same, just in case.

It happens to me often and I did see have several tests done. You might want to check your blood sugar when this happens, it could be low which causes you to become really dizzy and somtimes faint. In my case this always happens when my blood sugar is low.

I used to lose my vision too, when I was younger. For a short while it would become white noise, like a TV set tuned to nothing. I didn't feel any pressure in my eyes, though. It hasn't happened for a long time. One possible reason for becoming faint and dizzy on getting up suddenly is low blood pressure.

things seemed to kinda fizzle to black, form the edge of my vision to the center, like my surroundings where dissolving. i just used to shake it off... i hope that it doesnt cause any future problems has it caused you any? or has it just stopped?
-
No problems at all. It just stopped - I'm not sure when. Sometime in my teens, I think.

thanks for the reassurance
-
Hmm, I should point out that your symptoms and mine are pretty different. It would be better to get reassurance from a doctor.
-
Indeed I shall! Like I said it hasn't happend in a long while but if they start up again at least now I know I should go check it out.Ty
