I have a health project due around May, and i was thinking of doing an "experiment" to see if parents influence teen drinking. I was thinking of typing up surveys and handing it around the school. It will be anonymous and i was thinking of putting questions like: Do you drink? Do your parents drink? How often? What age did you start drinking? How often do you drink? etc..What do you think of this idea? Any tips and pointers would help.
-
Would this be a good health project?
-
Yeah sounds good but you may want to expand on the questions a bit.
-
Yeah of course i am i just haven't really started yet, those were just questions off the top of my head.
-
and you need to formulate what you think the answer will be, to give a good judge of the experiment.
-
That sounds like a good idea. But be sure to ask or let your teacher know about it before you do it. It's an important topic but it's also sensitive.
-
Yeah thats true, he could probably help me out too.
-
I think it would be a fine project, but for the results to be reliable, you want a good response rate. To help that, don't make the survey too long. Also, it's important to make the questions very clear and easy to answer in all circumstances. For example, if you ask "Do your parents drink?", what will someone answer when one parent drinks nothing and the other drinks like a fish?
