My mom names her cars, I just call it a she because when its being bad I scream and yell at it...You fucking piece of shit bitch!! cockscuker! dont die on my ass you rancid fucking whore!!!

I'm gonna do it!

it just seems like a stupid way to learn. I completely disagree. Learning on an automatic allows you to concentrate on the steering, speed, other drivers etc... Learning on an stick completely distracts you from these things.
-
Well its obviously just me then. I never found it distracting, it was just a little challenge at first. After a few hours of driving things usually just click and you're free to concentrate on the other stuff all you want in any car!
-
If you have to think about how to shift, when to shift, working the clutch, starting on an incline... for a beginner... is distracting. Sure you eventually get the hang of it but it's just easier with an automatic to start out with.
-
Well maybe I'm just better than everybody else...
-
Well, that's a given, isn't it?
-
when you're right, you're right. I agree that depending on the driving conditions and where you drive the most, auto's can be the best..especially for city driving like say in, New York. But in places like where my buddy lives, Mcfall, Missouri, population: 185; all back roads and stuff, it would be much easier to learn to drive stick. and JpF, what car are you learning on, again?? I don't know if you ever told -- if you did, my fault for not reading.
-
I think it depends on WHERE your learning. My kid (14yr old) knows how to drive a stick. I bet, she stomps the floor and grabs air if I put her in an automatic
-
Of course, it must be the green in my blood.
BMoC, not even considering if I could drive in Ney York City, I WOULD NEVER drive there! Especially in Manhattan! That place is an absolute nightmare!
-
well congrats abi have fun, and yes girls who drive STICKS are hot, but i thought you were going to wait til marriage to drive stick?
-
completely agree.. i had been driving for over a year when I learned manual and almost quit when i learned.
I remember driving home at 2am first few days i got it and cried and cried cause i kept stalling it at stop signs in the country.

Come on, 8300cc and all it only offers is what... 500-600hp?Plus, it handles like ass, apparently as one of the worst gear boxes in the world, guzzles a ridiculous amount of petrol, and the list goes on.Don't get me wrong, I love the car. I'm usually more about the looks than the performance anyway, but at the price range there are still better options.

my step uncle has a porsche 944 I think...9 something. it's very old but I love it. can't keep it but I can practice in it. and the only reason he's letting me drive THAT one is because I used to wash it and clean the inside when I was younger and we lived back in Brooklyn. That and I gave him the guilt trip for missing my past 4 birthdays and forgetting I was still in high school. He has a Porsche Carrera GT and a bentley coupe... those are the only ones I've seen here in New York. I don't know what happened to the Lotus Elise he used to drive. Haven't seen it in 3 years. He has many... many more outside of America. Don't think he's rich though... he is but not the right way. He has bad rep. story of my life. I know about the downsides of driving. I just want to get out there and drive. I feel as though males are better teachers than females. Just in my situation though. My mom tried to teach me and she was freaking out before I even turned the ignition. My step dad and uncle, on the other hand, are almost too relaxed. My SD teaches me more on driving and my unc teaches me more about the engine and mileage and whatnot.I think they're trying to gain points ever since "the incident" lol well it's working for them.

LOL 8300cc tuned VERY conservatively. They can get over 1000hp on pump gas with those things. If you're looking to go N/A, you can eek out 700+hp easily. Hell, the LS1 can get 500hp+ with a properly setup heads and cam package. Handles like ass? Lol come on, man. That thing wins circuits all the time. Gearboxes? The T-56 and TR6060 are geared properly and damn near bulletproof But I do agree...a viper is not my favorite car for 90k. However I would sure as hell drop 90k on a viper than a sorry Honda NSX But points taken.
