Well i just graduated today (From Highschool) and i partied all day at my girlfriends house. Talked to her mom alot, and all of her family. Her mom found out about us having sex, we talked about it and everything surprisingly is cool. She has totally turned around. Her mom and her family were just amazing and made me feel apart of the family. Her mom said she had a hard time letting go but she is trying, and she said as long as we go to planned parenthood and get protection she is fine. Also her aunt invited me up to her house in Oregon for two weeks to vacation. My girlfriend goes there every summer, and this time i got invited so i am leaving for Oregon tomorrow morning, it should be exciting. Its a long needed vacation thats for sure, ive been needing to get out of town and away from this stress for awhile. So i wont be around for a couple of weeks, but best wishes to you all and i'll see you all soon.Highschool is over and its time to start my life!

Leaving for a couple of weeks

Congrats and glad her mom came round. Have funAlso I don't really get why finnishing high school is such a big deal in America, here you're just expected to or you're not very smart. Is it because it's common not to finnish high school there? When I finnished "high school" it was like, cool and sad becuase I wouldn't see my mates as often but it was more a focus on now it's time to go to university and see what you're really made of, becuase graduating uni is a big deal....

Congratulations! I'm very glad. Have a great vacation!

Go to school, go to work, finish school. Leave their friends, their friends leave, join the armed forces, etc etc. statistically, only 24% of people graduate a 4 year university (and rarely in 4 years) so that means High School graduation is the big thing for 74% of the population.

Congragulations on finishing up high school! I'll be in your position next year, and I'm already fairly excited for it. Hope that you have a good vacation!

Is it because it's common not to finnish high school there? I don't know about the rest of the states, but it's a big deal here in L.A. because many students don't graduate and many more dropout. Why, I don't know for sure but I can bet its for various reasons. It's a real sad issue. And it's a big deal in my family because education was one of the reasons why they immigrated here. My parents wanted us to graduate high school so we can go to college. They didn't want me to be a part of the stereotypical Mexican girl senario who drops out of high school because I got knocked up and continue to pop out babies.

finnish high school They have high schools in Finland you know!

I signed my service papers the week of my 18th birthday. Then I went to training, then college, now I'm back home because I'm broke. Freedom has a price, and it's inflating

One year of fultime university study you can get a cirtificate, 2 years is a deploma. After you get a degree I think it's 2 years more for your masters, and I think 2 more after that for a doctorate.Maybe abit of a celebration after finnishing high school wouldn't be such a bad thing. For me there was no real celebration it was just, being sad about moving on in differnt directions from your mates and then exams. Very anti-climacticAnd these days many employers not only expect that you graduate high school but that you have University level qualifications also.

Well I know you can do them part time but not all degrees alow part time study, mines one of them. And I get what you mean now

Well thanks for that.We get alot of American TV and me an my sisters reactions to the high school kids graduations [with the capping ceramony like uni, some over the top presents (a car or a boob job for example) and the whole big thing] is kind of like.....ummm, it's only high school guys, calm down.I have to finnish another year and a half at uni before I get that kinda carry-on. Which I really look forward too

I had a 5th grade graduation.
-
Wow, you guys make a big deal out of moving on with school then. The closest I can think of is we used have an award ceramony at the end of some years for people who did very well in somthing.A kindi graduation would be cute mental image of tiny people in cap and gowns teehee
-
Some do have caps and gowns but I don't think it's all that common. Is it?
-
No cap and gowns... not even for 8th grade "Promotion". Kind of absurd if you ask me.... (To have it)
-
It's cute, yes, but that's all. IDK.. it just seems a mockery.
-
I'm in the "if it's not needed, don't have it" category.Doesn't serve much purpose, does it?
-
"It's cute, yes, but that's all."Cute, shmoot... if ya want cute go play in pile of puppies. >>>"IDK.. it just seems a mockery."I agree.Beyond that it's one more freakin' evening out of my life I'm gonna have to go spend in a crowd of people... with all their touching and breathing and talking... yyuechhh.Yeah, I'm tired and in one of those moods....

Everybody likes a good celebration.

They arn't needed but people like the attention. Most cultures today are alot less cerimony focussed then what they used to be. Ceremonies were a big deal back in the day. Now the ceremonies we do still have arn't taken very seriously eg: 5 and a half second vagas wedding are a long way from the ceremony that used to bind two people together forever under god and let them procreate. Actually, procreation isn't taken as seriously either. In hollywood it seems babies are the new tiny purse dog.
And poor kindergateners. They are children not dolls. They are not there for you're amusment parents with nothing better to do. Don't mock their kindi experience with little caps and gowns.
And also, pressure much? When kids are little they're are ment to think school is fun not that this iseducation that I need to take verry seriouly and I must aim for collage as not to dissapoint my parents. Not that kindi kids do read that much into costumes that make no sense to them.
