yeah well im 15 and i have yet to masturbate...is that normal???

Age??

If you want it to be normal, sure.Actually, if by normal you mean typical, then no. It's not typical. Most boys your age have masturbated. But if by normal you mean wrong, questionable, problematic, or anything to worry about, then absolutely not. Masturbation isn't a necessity. If for some reason you have made the decision to not do it, that is completely healthy. Not to mention quite the statement on your will power! If it's a matter of not feeling the need , that's probably okay too. The only reason to worry is if it were a matter of your bits and pieces not working properly, but it hardly sounds like that's what you're saying.Masturbation is a very normal, healthy thing for a 15 year old boy to do. It's also very normal and healthy to not do it.

Wow, I actually can't believe you made it that long without doing it.
-
damien i would really like
to thank you...and umm
the other person...ha its
not that hard when you just
dont...ha i still havent... -
Are you afraid to? don't want to? Think it's dirty?
-
There's a reason why you haven't. We're curious what it is.Have you ever had intercourse? If you've done neither, then you've never had an orgasm, so you don't know what that feels like.Aren't you at least curious? So I'm going to say, yes it ISN'T normal for a guy my age (I'm also 15) to have NEVER masturbated. Not even once.It might be normal to masturbate only once in a while al "almost" never, but to be as old as you are, it doesn't make sense to me.Do you have absolutely no desire? Are you afraid to?Are you not doing it so you can "brag" about not doing it ever? There is definitely a reason. Tell us.

Just as much as there are kids who have nothing but sex on their minds, there are those who couldn't care less.

Isn't it funny, what is considered "normal" to other people. Sex drives are a very unique thing. As long as all the plumbing is working, it is all normal (I guess with the exception of addiction)...
-
I didn't until I was 19, though that is very unusual, and was partly, I think, because I was very uptight. I did have wet dreams.

lol well i justdont know why..i just havent eventhought about doingit....
-
You must have thought about it, to post about it, right?

ha you got me therebut i was just wondering since i see all these thingsabout it on the website....

Since apparently a lot of people on here feel that anything at all is "normal", then we don't even need the word. At what point, as a percentage, would you say something is outside of "normal"?If 90% of 15 year old boys have masturbated a least once, would that make it "normal", and the other 10% outside of "normal"?If 98% of 15 year old boys have done it (I bet this is about right, maybe even higher), does that make the remaining 2% outside of normal?(Maybe what I'm trying to say is, even if it isn't normal that doesn't mean it's wrong or bad. It's just that "normal" means what is the "norm". The "average", the "middle of the bell curve".)

The point here is not to wield a fierce rhetorical sword and hold people to exact Webster definitions. The point is to get to what the OP was really asking. I think in this case, it's obvious he's not asking where he falls statistically, but is his experience okay. Should he worry.

The problem is that the word 'normal' is used in two senses, following from two different uses of the word 'norm'. To the mathematician, a norm is an average. In common use, however, a norm is an accepted standard. Hence 'normal' may mean 'close to average' or 'close to the accepted standard'.
The use of both meanings tends to lead people to think they are the same - that if they are average they are all right, and if they are far from average they are not - but this isn't true. Being off the average may be better. However the two are so mixed in many people's minds that some would rather get an average grade than stand out as gifted; and the concepts of the 'freak' and the 'abnormal' include a 'far from average' meaning as well as a pejorative 'unacceptable'.
And it's also possible that an accepted standard isn't the best, or doesn't matter. In this case, I don't see that it matters at what age you start masturbating.

i also whole-heartedly agree. normal is what YOU make of it, not Merriam-Webster. If you dont feel the need/want/desire/[insert word here] then thats fine. if other guys are just like 'oh well youre not normal' then maybe theyre not because the DONT, ya? just do what you think is best, and as long as it doesnt harm you or other people, dont worry about it, ya?

There's nothing weird about not masturbating by 15. Personally if I found out what it was, I'd probably try it out that night, but if for w/e reason you haven't, that's fine. I'd agree with others that by 15 most have tried it at least once. I had some friends that thought it was disgusting and refused to do it till they were 17-18 (at which point they discovered it's great).
