I don't think I'm taking it wrong at all. Any behavior that's disrespectful when teenagers do it is disrespectful when adults do it. Maybe even more so. But you can't deny that it's more typically an adolescent behavior.

You guys won't agree

Actually, she didn't say that the adults complaining about loud kids were loud themselves. She said that she believed they (who she clearly called quietand boring) would tolerate loud adults. Be careful, friend. You are portraying me falsely. First of all, I made it a point to say that I didn't think Abi was motivated by disrespect. I also didn't say all teenagers were like that. I did say that it is more typically an adolescent behavior.Do you know what I do for a living? I wouldn't waste my time, and go so much in debt for such a piddly salary, if I didn't believe there were good teenagers. The loud and obnoxious ones, the ones who backtalk and roll their eyes at me, the ones who look for ways to be defiant, they are all amazing in my book. But I would be irresponsible if I let my love for the breed blind me to negative behavior. I spend 40 hours a week trying to help teenagers find ways of dealing with people and systems and society in ways that promote positive interaction and outcomes. It's hard to turn that off when I come here.

I didn't sense any disrespect in your posts. No apology needed.I'm always happy to clarify what I say.Carry on.

_I see adults talk just as loud as teenagers. _
You don't think loud teenagers grow up to be loud adults?

I know it's disrespectful behavior. I get very annoyed when some guy inconsiderately is blabbing on the phone about his stock growth in the furniture market and how he thinks his 3rd wife knows he's cheating on her with some Indonesian girl. I honestly don't want to know about his business like that. Especially when I have to spend 20 minutes of the ride listening to him. I'd just rather he tone it down or stop yelling like the guy is 10 feet away. I just don't like the fact people give me dirty looks and what not when I'm not doing anything because my best friend wants to tell me what she's been doing in Jamaica for the past year. She's excited to be back in the US. It's a 5 minute ride. Divert your eyes and get over it. It's not that serious.

If you're qualifying what you were originally talking about, I don't think this sounds disrespectful at all. I was thinking more along the lines of a group of kids acting obnoxious. This sounds more like a couple of girls talking and one of them maybe not realizing how loud her voice is.

That is what it is. But people are so prejudice they don't even realize it sometimes.

I used to knock people...'s doors for giving me dirty looks. I'm so much nicer now. I just smile and look away... like a good girl should.............
