I've taken to measuring my girth as of late. And I am routinely getting anywhere between 6 and 6.25 inches. Now, doing some research I've found this is quite a bit above average. But my length is 5.5 to 5.8. I had always believed that length and width correlated with one another. Is this not true? I've been taking a shoestring and wrapping it around my penis and measuring the shoestring from the tip to where they meat (pun?! Oh yeah.) when it comes around. Is this the way to do it? Any way, kind of curious. As it seems odd.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Welcome to A2A, WakkaWo! Unless the shoestring is stretchy and you are stretching it when you straighten it, it seems you are measuring correctly.Length and width have some correlation (longer penises are more likely to be thicker), but it's far from a perfect correlation. Short and thick, and long and thin, are both possible. You are not short (you are average length or slightly over), but certainly well over average thickness. You will need large condoms, and you may indeed find the Magnum XL, which is wider than an ordinary Magnum, most comfortable. Some people use the word 'chode' to describe a penis whose girth is greater than its length.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I was just sort of surprised. Besides my own, the only penises I've seen would be in porn movies. So, I suppose I didn't have exactly the best basis as to what normal is. Well, I suppose that makes me feel a better about myself! Ha.

Ha! Apparently I was doing something wrong. In the following weeks from the first message my girth is 5.5-5.75. It's really weird though. I don't know HOW I managed to mess up by as much as an inch. I can't imagine messing up something as simple as using a shoe string. And then I thought I was maybe just looking at the ruler wrong. But, if I was, I figure I'd be off by exactly an inch. Not the .5-.75 I have been as of late. Maybe I was just having a really good day?

Perhaps. Or could your shoe string be stretchy?

I looked at that when you said it in your original reply, and it wasn't. And I've tried to recreate my stretching it every which way and haven't been able to.
I'm stumped (literally).

Sometimes we can have a time for a week or two when for some reason the erection isn't as large as usual. But if your new figure is in fact the right one, it's still bigger than average, and the large-sized condoms will still be the best fit (though you won't need the XL).

I might as well keep all my questions in this thread. But, when I was trying to re-measure my girth, I noticed I wasn't really getting "hard", I mean it'd get bigger but just kind of spongy big. Not rock hard or anything. I don't know what the average degree for an erect penis is, but mine was sitting at an almost 90 degree angle. Which seemed a little lower than normal.Maybe it's subconscious?

Our hormone levels do fluctuate. There are weeks when we're really horny and weeks when we're not. Some people have described a male menstrual cycle of hormone fluctuations, though over a longer time and less regular than the female one; and of course stress and other factors also influence our horniness. Also, I've heard a number of guys say they found unexpectedly that their erection was about an inch shorter for a week or two (even though this isn't mentioned in any place I've seen). This could be something similar.

Well. I figured it out. Down at the base of the shaft i'm at 6 to 6.25 inches. And up near the glans I'm more near 5.75. I guess I measured at the base to begin with, and then when doing it again wasn't measuring in a consistent spot.

It's often done about half-way along the shaft, which presumably will be somewhere in between those two figures.
