I'm sure that title caught you're attention and you figured that what I'm about to say has been said over and over again and there will never be proof yadayadaya. Well! Today I finally found some damn proof for you atheists lying right in the book of Job in the Old Testament. Now first off it has nothing to do with assumptions or faith. It's written in clear context. Now go to the book Job 38:16. The title of the verse is "The Lord Speaks". Job asked a question and God answered. So these are the words of God. I'll quote it "Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep?"Now hold on a second! We're talking about a man who lived in a time where it is completely impossible for him to have traveled to the bottom of the ocean and witnessed the amazing springs down below. So how else do you suppose Job could know this without the help of God? He couldn't have, therefore, GOD EXISTS. I'm open for debate so for the atheists on the board. Fire up the questions. Also if you look in Genesis 7:11, it states, "In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on the seventeenth day of the second month--on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened."Once again mentioning springs at the bottom of the ocean that most certainly could not have been visited by people of that time period. Heck, we couldn't even visit them until the latter half of the 20th century, never mind in the ancient times.

Proof God Exists
-
You will find other phrases in the bible along the lines of this.
I have personal reasons that proves to me that god exists.
There are people here who will argue that its not true.. im not getting into it..
all I'm going to say is Right on brotha!! -
...so, what's your proof exactly? I hope you're prepared for what might happen for opening an big ol' can of worms.
-
My proof is that Job could not have known there were springs at the bottom of the ocean without the help of a superior being a.k.a. God.

Ah, okay I get it now. It was confusing for me because you said "these are the words of God" but in the previous sentence you said "Job asked a question". So, I got confused on who said what. However, that's your personal proof but not the ultimate proof of God's existance.

I know, I just needed somewhere to share it. And I would just like to present yet another piece of evidence pointing to a God. Maybe convert someone if they're willing to listen. There are none so blind as those who will not see. There are none so deaf and those who will not hear. I've found things become so much easier and less frustrating if you're always open to hear what someone has to say. People who listen more than they speak tend to be wiser. However it's up to you to decide what you believe and what you don't believe.
-
Yeah Rad, I'm not trying to force God or Christianity on anyone here or in my life. I'm simply presenting another point or side to the story.
-
Yes, I've been reading the Bible everyday. Just the warmth I feel when I read it is like no other. I feel loved when I read it, it's amazing. I'm using a study version of the NIV. At the bottom of each page it gives an interpretation of words or phrases used. It's really helping. Plus doing research online has helped a lot. I'm ready for any arguments that presents themselves. I hope people are not mean when they go about arguing. I will not respond to derogatory comments. Keep your comments mature and reasonable.

I have a fantastic story to tell you. Add me to msn?
-
Sure, I'll have to download MSN unless you have AIM then I can talk to you right away. My screen name there is djm5493.
-
I have to admit though, the title of this thread is false advertising! But I'm not surprised.
-
It makes a good bait, haha. I figured most people would have the urge to take a look.
-
I suppose that's true. But be careful with the word "proof". Someone might want you to back it up.
-
Why did Stephie tell me to add her on MSN and then leave? Haha. First of all I have no clue how to use this dang program and secondly I don't have her screen name or whatever the heck you call a member name on MSN.

I'm a practicing Catholic, but I don't quite see how that proves God exists. Saying God exists based solely on information given to us by our holy book cannot be taken as complete proof. By the same standard, everything in all history books happened. Were you there in Job's time? No. Proof God exists isn't in the Book itself. It's everywhere.
-
Well by proof God exists, I meant in the sense that I was adding another point to the theists side of the debate. And by saying "were you there in Job's time?" imply that he may have been able to witness these things?
-
I may not have been clear with my last post. So I'll expand on it. I'm assuming that when you said "were you there in Job's time?" you meant that anything could have happened that I may not know now. Since I was not there to witness his entire life, there is no way of me knowing every action he performed and it's validity. But since the Bible was written long ago and was proved to be written long ago, then there is no way in my sense that Job could have seen these things. So you're point was that maybe Job did go down there, you never know. Maybe I'm interpreting you wrong but that's what I took away from your post.

It's wonderful, all those small verses which are just subtle evidence towards God's existence.I wouldn't say this is absolute proof of His existence but it is still nice and challenging.

What you wrote is not proof...How do you Job exists? What if the people who lived in the time of the bible being written perhaps didn't know for sure that the springs existed, but had either taken a good guess, or used reasoning, i.e. "springs exist on the surface, therefore they must be below", or similar. There is no proof that God exists. Don't get me wrong, there's no proof that H/he does not, either. Some people swing one way, some swing the other. Both seem to need reasons as to why they do or do not believe. All I think is that, if you believe, and you are happy, good. Keep it to yourself. If you don't believe, and are happy, good, keep it to yourself. I mean no offense, I just wish more people followed these words. And I don't condemn people declaring that they believe, or do not, it's just when it gets to "God exists because ..." or "God does not exist because ..." that I get irked. Again, no offense intended, just saying.

The point is that nobody back when the Bible was written had the technology to visit the bottom of the ocean and see these springs for themself...they would have to be told of their existance in order to write about it. And as for guessing, sorry...I'd say that's reaching pretty far. So while not absolute proof, you're about 99.9% there.
