Seriously. While I'm sure there's a few of you out there who use it well and wisely. Listening to the bullshit, Christians and Mormons in particular spew out is starting to literally make me sick at my stomach.I don't want to go into Mormonism right now but the whole main point of the bible. To sum up it's thousands of words in just a couple.Be good... That's it. Treat others how you wish to be treated. Be kind and loving even to those you dislike. Take care of yourself and others. But no, they decide to use it to, hate gays. Or to not have sex before marriage, sometimes because they're supposedly worried about going to hell. But they drink cut smoke, disrespect people start fights, insult people hurt them. Hate them... So on so forth.God damn people. If you want or don't want to do something Do or don't fucking do it. Don't not do one thing because it's against your religion, but do another because you don't think it's that bad, or you just don't care.Shut up with fucking religious views that make you look like more of a douche than you already are.WHERE IS THE LOVE PEOPLE. LOOOOOVE Not fake love. I used to think people actually cared about each other. But they don't care about others. They don't care about themselves in the long run. They just want instant gratification that goes with whatever.Rant rant rant, feel free to completely ignore this post all together, I'm just pissed off at some "Christians." Who will tell you being gay is an abomination while raping their sisters best friend and murdering their brother -.-

Religion should be outlawed.

hmm.. sure you're not referring to the two year old girl that was raped and left for dead because her father wouldn't convert to Islam?
It does make me wonder sometimes. I consider that I may just be a bad person in general because I've always felt that I got my love.. I mean true love from God. I used to think "hm.. what if I didn't believe and put my trust in God" well then... I'd be your worst nightmare. I'd be the most racist, violent, disrespectful son of a bitch you'd ever met. I'd screw and gladly give every dirty twisted cop AIDs. I'd beat the crap out of every jackass that ever committed a racial crime against me and my family... with a BAT or maybe a sledgehammer... whichever is more effective. And I'd violently castrate every motha trucka that ever touched me inappropriately with a very very VERY dull and rusted kitchen knife.
Of course, I'm just kidding... tehe....o_o
I'd rather hang out with an agnostic gay guy than a straight Christian male anyday... I have my reasons. :eyes:

I agree with you that religion should never be outlawed, but what do you think the world would be like without it? A world where it wasn't oppressed or destroyed, but it just ceased to exist.

And do I seem like the type to engage in anarchy and commit horrendous crimes?
And I don't understand what you mean by religion being a reality.

Is this actually a group or just a bunch of people. And surely this doesn't terrorise you.

Quote:Religion is not only a way of life, but a reality there, right there... that is the ultimate folly of faith. When you no longer "believe" but you "know". If faith were fact, there would be only one faith. How dare you all start a hot topic when I have to go for a few days!I'm out gang, try to behave!I'm going to party it up for new year with my girl friend (and probably commit a large number of sins)HAPPY NEW YEAR KIDS!

It's fine if you put up a nativity scene in front of your own house, or any other kind of private property that you own. However, we have a problem when people start putting up nativity scenes on public property. How would you feel if we put up statues of Mohammad or something like that in front of government buildings? We are officially a secular nation, so we can't have things on government property that promote any one religion.

There would still be some form of christmas if the christian religion had never existed. It would just be under a different name, like the Winter Solstice or something like that. We would still have holidays and celebrations. In fact, Christmas was originally a pagan holiday, that was taken over by christians as an excuse to keep a popular holiday.

I agree with you, FallenLight, there are many Christians who condemn others while their own lives are bad. But this is not what Christianity is about - Christians are told not to judge others. Christianity teaches that God came to earth, to the people he had specially trained, and the respectable God-fearing people nailed him to a cross because he threatened the established order. That should give Christians pause when they are too well-established in the social system.

Sheesh, you're being a real knucklehead aren't you?Of course Christmas IS celebrating the birth of Jesus.. He didn't say Christmas is a Pagan Holiday... Rather the original Pagan holiday MAY have been replaced with Christmas.Christmas[3] or Christmas Day[4][5] is an annual Christian holiday commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ.[6][7] It is celebrated on December 25, but this date is not known to be Jesus' actual birthday, and may have initially been chosen to correspond with either the day exactly nine months after some early Christians believed Jesus had been conceived,[8] a historical Roman festival,[9] or the date of the northern hemisphere's winter solstice.[10] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas

Ok, Armondo, seriously? shut up.I didn't say I didn't celebrate Christmas. It's a FACT that Christmas was originally a pagan holiday. calm down. Quote:Seems like you've changed for the worse since you went to collegeLord... roll eyesand people wonder man...

Abi, you know that Christmas is the day to celebrate the life of Jesus. That's why we celebrate that day. It has nothing to do with paganism. Seems like you've changed for the worse since you went to collegeOh yeah, by the way...Happy New Year Christmas may be a christian holiday based on Jesus Christ, but that doesn't mean that christmas does not have pagan roots. It does, in fact, have something to do with paganism, and some of these pagan ideas can be see in our christmas celebrations today In fact, christmas used to be called "Dies Natalis Solis Invicti" by pagans, which means "the birthday of the unconquered Sun." As pagans converted to christianity, they just changed the day from the birth of the sun to the birth of Christ. Most biblical scholars don't even believe that December 25 was when Jesus was born, not even close. People just chose December 25 because they wanted an excuse to keep around the celebrations and festivities that came with the date. And here's another example of the connection between paganism and christmas, according to Wikipedia: "Pagan Scandinavia celebrated a winter festival called Yule, held in the late December to early January period. As Northern Europe was the last part to Christianize, its pagan traditions had a major influence on Christmas. Scandinavians still call Christmas Jul. In English, the word Yule is synonymous with Christmas,[60] a usage first recorded in 900."So, yes, christmas is a religious christian holiday. But you can't deny that it has pagan roots and pagan influences. You can't say that "christmas has nothing to do with paganism," because saying so is just ignorant.

If Religion did not exist, the world would be far better off. Events like 9/11 would never have occurred. Religion leads to racism and racism leads to war. This is not disputable.

I'm not trying to put words in your mouth but I don't think you meant that religion should be outright banned. I think you're just pissed off at the religious extremists (and non-religious extremists as well).

Personally, I have seen many religious people go against their beliefs because something didn't feel quite right. -
Originally Posted By: A.W.The celebration of the Winter Solstice IS a pagan holiday. Why do some people have to bring up crap about Christmas. It may have had some pagan roots in the past. That's the past, OK! STOP dwelling on how Christmas was celebrated in the PAST. We're NOT in the past anymore. I think its time for the Top 10 Christmas Icons Stolen from Pagans!!#1 The Yule LogYule was a Scandinavian fertility god who was worshipped by burning a wooden phallic (penis shape), as well as sacrificing other objects and sometimes people.#2 The 12 Days of ChristmasThe celebrations for the worship of Yule lasted for 12 Days around the time of the Winter Solstice. #3 HollyDecking the halls with Holly was originally a pagan ritual for warding off evil spirits. Wicans strengthened the power of this by tying the Holly in circles or wreaths.#4 MistletoeMistletoe was used by pagans in spells to make a woman open to sexual exploitation. So in essence, its really an ancient date rape drug.#5 Christmas LightsLights were usually put in the windows of pagans during the Winter Solstice to show that the occupants of the house were engaging in the rituals for Yule {or in other words, they were fucking like rabbits). These days we usually just put a sock on the doorknob, but they were a lot more open about it in those days.#6 Gift GivingNow, before you try to argue that gift giving represents the three Kings or Magi giving their gifts, the gain of personal possessions isn't exactly a Christian virtue, especially when considering Luke 12:33. You should really be more inclined to give away your possessions. Now, in ancient Rome there was a month long celebration during the Winter Solstice where pretty much any crime could be committed because all the courts in Rome were closed. In 270A.D. Emperor Aurelian made this celebration official by setting aside 7 days around the Winter Solstice, culminating on December 25th which was designated as a day of giving gifts.#7 Santa!!Mainly of Scandinavian origin, the pagan god Odin was said to have flown through the skies during the Winter Solstice, deciding who would die and who would live. We also have the Turkish Bishop Nicholas who supposedly caught the devil and made him his personal servant. So as Saint Nicholas went around from house to house, he got the devil (which he renamed Knecht Ruprecht) to drop sweets and gifts down the chimney. So we have a mixture of Odin, Saint Nicholas and the devil that all come together to make Santa!#8 Snowmen(Not a huge amount of information on this, but the story goes...)Snowmen actually come from Japan where children made them to be warriors for the god Shiva (yes, you Final Fantasy nuts, the same one!) Some were clothed and some weren't, and it was feared that the unclothed snowmen would come to life and pillage and rape out of jealousy. The people fought them back by throwing hot coals, which gives us the coal-for-eyes business.#9 Christmas TreesThe Christmas Tree was extremely sacred for the pagans at the time of the Winter Solstice. So much so that the god of Abraham actually warns his followers against worshipping them. Jeremiah10:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.10:3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.10:4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.10:5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.So having a Christmas tree is a vanity issue, celebrated by heathens. #10 MithrasThe Light of the World. The Good Shepard. Told his followers to practice communion rituals of bread and wine. And, he seemed to disappear around the same time as this new guy appeared, you may know him, Jesus. And do you remember the whole gift giving celebration that I talked about earlier? Do you know why Winter Solstice was chosen as a time of celebration? Yes! Its because it was a celebration of the the virgin birth of their saviour, Mithras!
