+1 for the rap sucks club. I would've selected house/trance/dance if it were there over rock, but I don't mind rock either.Edit: I'll expand on my dislike for rap. Most rap and RnB you come across is negative as fuck. Constant swearing, lyrics about crime, abusing women, gangs and jail, depressing stories about their lives, and its often full of hate. Whilst the lyrics may be very clever and interesting, it's not something I want to listen frequently or for long periods of time. Dance and trance however is almost always energizing and uplifting music, especially trance. A good trance song can honestly slow your heart beat or make it race purely from the melody and rhythm. A good example is Tiesto's classic Adagio for strings (Seen here: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=y5xjIpsHVYQ ).Mostly though it's because I love to dance and whilst I don't mind dancing to RnB (especially if I want to pick up) I prefer to just do my own thing to a good dance beat, and you can definitely not dance to a rap song. Another good example of an energizing dance song would be Exploration of Space by Cosmic Gate - http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=ctr-t0LxD9wI should note though, to really enjoy this sort of music you need to really crank it up.

Rock R rap

ok so youre allowed to say all "screaming rock music" is crap, but nobody can say all rap is crap? oooo i get it youre a,an ummmm damnit whats the woord...hypocrite? yeah thats it!although really its hard to blame someone for hating a specific genre, too much of rap you hear on the radio is pure unadulterated crap, nothing but booze bitches drugs and guns. and the same goes for rock and metal, too much gimmick shit about hate and what they consider "pain" its difficult to differentiate whats genuine and whats not in any genre. what you have to do is just remember what you hear on the radio isnt the entirety of a single genre and that there are musicians out there working hard to pour their soul into every note, not to watch the dollars roll in from the trendoid bullshit.

I prefer Hip Hop.
-
Don't even bother. They can state that their opinion is "indeed a fact! hyuck hyuck"give me a break. It really shouldn't matter. We love what we grew up with and if people think it sucks that's their own prob. Shouldn't matter what they think as long as you love whatcha love. I happen to think metal sucks. I can state that as a fact so yes. Metal sucks. fact 100% de dia uno numero. lolI do like Rock though. Santana.Overall I prefer Hip Hop R&B and for a while now, New Age =P random....

Quote:Maroon 5 his voice annoyes me. i thought he was a girl when they first started out. it annoyes me more when i relised i have a voice like that. not LIKE his but not very deep. i HATE my voice! note i have never heard him talk so i dk what he sounds liek when he;s not singing. he may talk deeper than he sings. (is deeper the right word?) Quote:I'm sorry, but I have never thought of Maroon 5 as anything other than sappy pop music. i call them pop too but then i call any rock that i don't like pop so i can pick on my girlfriend about it. lol she likes that band. she on this saving able kick now. i acaully pulle dit out of her cd player and held it out the window. (no i wasn't really goign to drop her cd, but she thought so) i needed a break from that stuff. i don;t liten to anythign too hard when she;s wiht me cuz i knwo she don;t liek it. ...ok i;'m rambling. i;ll shut up now

youre right, by textbook definition you arent a hypocrite, just a rude person who thinks he has the right to say things other people dont. and dude, dont tell me what to do. although i dont personally care for the vast majority of the screaming metal, i would assume the genuine ones do it to signify rage and pain, not just to sound nifty. and again, who do you think you are to define what music is? Quote:mu·sic Audio Help /ˈmyuzɪk/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[myoo-zik] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation–noun1. an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.2. the tones or sounds employed, occurring in single line (melody) or multiple lines (harmony), and sounded or to be sounded by one or more voices or instruments, or both.3. musical work or compositions for singing or playing. but most of all, music is an expression of the soul, how its conveyed depends on the soul of the musician.i never said rap was crap, just that most you hear on the radio, which is the mainstream "gangsta" bullshit is crap. and the stuff your talking about very well may be good, doesnt mean i want to listen to it.

my soul is wounded so maybe that's why i liek all the screaming. i feel like just screamming alot of the time but i can;t. -
There's not much adagio in that Adagio! 'Adagio' means 'slow' or 'leisurely'.A real adagio.
-
If you ask someone who has a history of musical training, including theory, composition, and music history (and is trying to be pc); they'll tell you that rap sucks. Yep, I said it.
-
Didn't know that, as far as a lot of trance goes that song is pretty slow, at least in parts.
-
They may have started with something classical that was slow and speeded it up. There was a bit in it that was almost adagio.
-
I choose METAL! But on the poll id go with Rock!
-
I hate Heavy Metal too.... well as long as it's not too Heavy....

Quote:You're thinking of today's rap music, but if you get an old rap album from the late 70s and 80s and just listen to it, then you would likely enjoy it some. Im SOOO with you there. I love old school hip hop

I thought Steely dan was Jazz Fusion? Only heard the one song mind.

considering there is rap in rock and rock in rap, then it must either all suck or all be awsomenow country music... there's the lowest form of life on the planet

I like Journey and Santana, both Bay Area native rock group!
Did you know they're related? Neil Schon (Journey guitarist) and Greg Rolie (original Journey keys and vocals) both got their start with Santana in the late-60's/early-70's. "Evil Ways" (Santana) is Greg Rolie singing..."Just the Same Way" (Journey) is Greg Rolie trading vocals with Steve Perry. I like both those bands, too...especially the earlier recordings.

I'm not saying we can't like what we want to...just hoping people would try getting into something that they haven't been into before. There's a lot of good music out there waiting to be heard...but very little of it on most popular radio stations, these days.

Yep, I said it. I don't even consider RAP to be music. How many RAP "songs" can a person whistle and have somebody else guess what song it is they're whistling? How many RAP "songs" can you actually whistle? I consider RAP to be "an alternative form of audio entertainment"...somewhere between music and a comedy record.
