My girlfriend has been having a chunky cream colored discharge for maybe two weeks now. She has never had this before, it doesn't bother me at all, but it's beginning to worry her so I'm trying to find out what it is and what to tell her. It almost looks like cocoa butter lotion, but a little chunkier. Could this maybe be a yeast infection or something? Because when she first started getting this discharge, there was no odor, but now within the second (maybe third) week, she has begun to get an odor down there she has never had before.

Discharge question
-
could it be a yeast infection?
-
Definately sounds like a yeast infection. She needs to see her doctor or try some OTC meds.
-
Thanks a lot, I'll look more into that. She has never had a yeast infection before, so she doesn't really know the symptoms. I obviously haven't either, so i'm pretty clueless^.<
-
Would her regular doctor be fine, like the one she would go to for a cold, or a gynocologist that would specialize in it?
-
Yeah if she's never had one before than I would definately say just see a doctor. That way she's informed of what exactly it is in case it happens again. And i'm not totally sure, but if she doesn't have a gyno I bet a regular doctor could treat something as simple as a yeast infection. Though if she already does see a gyno then thats who she should probably go to.

Thanks

Yeah, she's kind of afraid to go to a doctor, but I've been reading on it and if it is some type of yeast or bacterial infection, I wouldn't want it to get more serious if not treated. But I think she just might try to keep it really clean for a week or two and see what happens first, so I don't know..>.<What do you think?
-
She needs to see a doctor. It's already been two weeks and "keeping it really clean" is not going to fix the problem.
-
No kidding. Bacterial infections can look like yeast infections, and doctors run cultures to make sure they're treating the right problem. There are many causes for abnormal vaginal discharge, and some can cause complications like infertility if they aren't treated.Your girlfriend should have a gyn anyway since she's sexually active to get her annual pap smear to check for cervical cancer. (which is very treatable if caught early)

I don't have a girlfriend with discharge issues . Make sure you reply to the correct person or indicate it in the post if its to multiple people. It reduces confusion around here.
-
Definitely this is a yeast infection. You should try home remedies for this.If u will get good result at day by day so keep it up else take a advice of specialist.
