Like three months ago i got punched in the nose boxing and couldn't breathe that well after that. So after 2 months of going back and forth to my ENT he finally told me to get a cat scan. I got my results and it turns out i do have a deviated septum, as i thought, and a possible sinus/inner ear infection which might be why my ears have been popping and clicking. It also said i'm producing too much mucus/phlegm, i don't have it with me so i can tell you exactly what it says. Anyways that ENT sent me to another ENT to talk about getting a septoplasty. And i'm going to get on antibiotics for my infection or whatever. And in three weeks i should go to yet another ENT to see if antibiotics worked and to talk about surgery again because hes the one doing it.Anyways i have some questions. I've never had surgery before and i'm sort of nervous lol. I heard somewhere a septoplasty only takes an hour or so? And also, i've always had this bump on my nose and i was thinking if i'm getting surgery on my nose might as well fix that right? But can i get it if i'm only 16?

So i got a catscan and received the results..

If they can fix it at the same time I wouldn't think your age would be any problem, but it could cost more because it would take longer. However, noses are naturally bumpy, and attempts to improve bumps don't always make things better. It's certainly something you can discuss. They may well do something like this as day surgery where you come in the morning and are discharged in the afternoon. With anything done under general anaesthetic they wouldn't want to make it much quicker than that, because they want to make sure you are OK after waking up. Things done under local anaesthetic can be faster.

What's the difference between local and general anesthesia?

If you're under general anesthetic, you are completely unconscious. Whereas with local anesthetic, part of your body is not sensitive to pain. General anaesthetic is basically like being asleep, whereas with local anaesthetic you are fully conscious (like when the dentist numbs part of your mouth).

So if i was going to get a septoplasty would i be under general or local anesthetic?

General
