Hey ya'll! I'm stumped on something, so help would be appreciated! I'm on the Nuva Ring birth control method. Last month in October, I got my period on Thursday the 16th like normal and inserted a new ring on Sunday the 19th. This is basic routine for me and all has been normal, until this morning.According to my calendar, I was supposed to remove the ring tomorrow (Sunday 9th) and expect my period to start on Thursday. However, to my great surprise, I woke up with a bloody mess in my pants. I doubled checked my calendar to see if I might have miscalculated, but I'm on target. This has never happened to me before in all my time in using this method so I'm a bit lost. And this is a real period, not spotting. In other words, my period came six days early. So, my question is should I remove my ring tomorrow and give myself the one week break like I was scheduled to do or would it be safe to insert a new ring tomorrow to start on a new month dosage? At least the good news is I'm not pregnant, lol! Thanks in advance!

Holy cheese and crackers! You brought up such an obvious fact that I should hit myself in the head for not thinking of it sooner! You brought up the idea that it might have slipped out. I've been on the ring for over a year and a half and I've never had it slip out before. But I now just remembered that last week, my boyfriend and I were having such crazy sex that it actually came out! I was so shocked but I quickly reinserted back in my vagina. According to what I read, so long as the ring is reinserted back within less than three hours, I should be fine. It was only out for less than a minute, so I didn't give it a second thought.Just now, when I read your post, I decided to go back to the bathroom to check if the ring was still there. In my mind, I felt pretty sure that it was since I was confident that it only slipped out that one time. But double checking isn't going to hurt. And to my great surprise, I didn't feel it!I reached as far as I could and I didn't feel the ring. Right now, I'm scratching my head to remember if it slipped out again, but I'm drawing a blank here! I did have sex again after that little incident but I don't remember it slipping out again. How bizzare! How does one lose a vaginal ring and not realize it sooner (lol!)?Well, at least we've solved this mystery. Thanks albeit, for making me realize how big of a moron I can be, lol!

Does your BF use a condom?
-
No he doesn't. Why do you ask?
-
Well, with the semen it would make the vagina extra slippery and it probaly slipped out when you went to the bathroom. It probably wasn't seated well when you put it back in.

Point taken, thanks for sharing.
