i am considering getting my tongue pierced, and am wondering if there is anything that i should know, like tips, cus i have no idea what it involves

Just curious

yup!
its actually the strongest muscle, so it only take like... a month tops to heal! Also, you should stay away from dairy for the first 1-2 weeks. it WILL swell, so you're gonna have to deal with that. ummm... rinse out your mouth twice a day with epsom salts and HOT water. then use a mouthwash afterwards  try not to open mouth kiss or have oral sex for a couple weeks either.
tongue piercings are HOT. im hoping to get one eventually. Im also about 98% sure im getting a monroe next month!
good luck to you.

Quote:try not to open mouth kiss or have oral sex for a couple weeks either. yeaaaah... that's always the tricky one isn't it? After all, who can resist taking a new piercing for a spin. I was talking to some peircers in Toronto about getting a Prince Albert. I asked how long I would have to GASP abstain. He said that they recommend 6-8 weeks but most people barely make it 24hrs

its going to be hard. lolI have to wait myself for open mouth and oral once i get my piercing... I dont know if my bf will last 6 weeks without my mouth haha6 weeks w/o open mouth kissing is going to be hard... we always make out.

hehe, I love making out

no oral should be no problem for me, as i am currently alone. also what about smoking? will i have to stop?

Quote: also what about smoking? will i have to stop?you will sooner or later, may as well use the piercing as an excuse to do it now.

smoking is not great for healing so I'd try and cut it out after you get it done. Also, my sister has hers peirced and I'd recoment you get the plastic balls for the ends of the barbell because the metal ones may damage your teeth.
