Well, I'm guessing other people on this board have been doing College Apps like I have, so I thought just a thread to talk about what people have been working on or finding hard about it.Personally, I might end up only having to fully do and submit one app, since I applied Early Decision to Harvey Mudd. Although since I took Calc 2/3 last year, and I had to go to a much lower math class this year, I'm a little worried about forgetting a lot of what I learned (mainly fourth quarter, Flux integrals, line integrals, Green's Theorem, Stoke's Theorem, etc.). Though since my class load now is easy by my standards, I might be able to do independent study of Differential Equations with a friend or two.I'll be getting my results on the 15th.

I'm impressed - I found vector calculus pretty hard when I tried to teach it to myself. I think some independent study of differential equations would help keep your mind sharp, and be very useful later.

I'll have a BS in mechanical engineering in about 1.5 weeks and I've taken all the classes you describe and more. Basically, I would not worry too much about forgetting all the fine details. You will review and use what is needed from calculus as your classes become more specialized. I really never used partial derivatives until fluid mechanics / heat transfer and we reviewed those topics when we got to them in class. Concentrate on passing your classes you currently have and worry about review when the time comes. It is much easier to review than learn a subject.I hope that helps!

The classes that I have, even though they're the hardest offered, are a breeze for me right now, especially the math class I have. I have no problem passing any of them. I felt cheated because I couldn't continue onto Differential Equations at the state college by our school because the IB Diploma took up too many classes to have enough time for it.
I really want to learn Differential Equations, because it doesn't feel right not learning new math. Also, a friend of mine who was in my Calc 2/3 class last year is already doing it with our old teacher as a supervisor. Also, the lowest class offered at Harvey Mudd in math is Calculus, which I'll probably already get credit for (5 on AP BC Sophomore year), but I might also be able to get credit or at least advance ahead, which would be especially useful since I've been contemplating a double major in Math and Physics.

I don’t know what College Apps are. is it liek finals? Finals for me start this week. I’m not to worried about them tho. Last week I had to do a small part in a presentation but I did the intro so it wasn’t so bad. I just asked to do the less talking and told them more I talk the more stuttery I get. Good thing for me was I was in a group of talkers and we had 5 members in the group so.. One girl even told me that I didn’t look like the shy type. I dk shy people had a type. Anyways I have exams then I;m out for Christmas and new years. In Jan I go to orientation at the university I’m transferring too. That also means I have till Jan to decide to stay in the major I’m in or change it. Right now school is the lest of my problems. Therapy is kicking my ass and I want to QUIT! Btw does anyone know how to make a key that sticks not stick?
-
Good luck for the finals!I don't know about the therapy. Do you think that overall it's doing you good?If it's the lock that's sticky, you buy graphite dust that you squirt into the keyhole. If it's just one key, it may need grinding down a little to loosen it - any place that cuts keys can do that.

keys on my keyboard. i have two that when i touch them they stick and it looks like this > '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' then i have to back space all of it but the 1 i need. it does come up it;s just... acts liek i;m holing it down. and i;m not. it does feel gunky like but i have took the keys off and cleand aroudn it and the key button. the day i cleaned it it was fine but next day back to the same crap.
theroy > he's makign me do intence thery. it's wearing me out menally and phisacally.

College Apps are College Applications.
-
Stupid me!It is a separate keyboard or one on a laptop? If it's separate, try holding it upside down and giving it a lot of sharp raps on the bottom, to try to dislodge the bits of food that are probably making the keys stick. (Don't do that to a laptop, though.)I have heard that it's possible to wash a keyboard and have it work again after it has dried out, but I wouldn't do it except if otherwise it would have to be thrown out.
-
On the older keyboards (not the newer Mac ones, at least) where the keys stick out all the way, you can take them off and maybe get a small little air blower to blow anything under them out. You might be able to find more information on how to do it online.

Well, I was deferred from my Early Decision because one of the three essays wasn't very good. They also want to see this semester's grades because of my Freshmen year. Also, I'm doing independent study of Complex Analysis and might be able to take Linear Algebra at the state college nearby.Have a foolish MIT interview tomorrow...
-
I'm sorry it didn't work out perfectly, but it still seems you're pretty sharp!
-
Sorry to hear about your deferral to Harvey Mudd. There's a building where I go to school named after him, which is pretty cool. Where else did you apply?
-
MIT, Stanford, Rice, Caltech, and the University of Rochester. I'm regretting not having applied to Cornell and Columbia, though. Mostly Cornell; it's the main ivy where I'd be a good fit, I think. Had something against ivies, but it was mainly Harvard, Yale, and Princeton that I didn't like. Plus, their more matches for me than some of my schools that I applied to.
