In reply to:Hermaphrodite (bisexual organism)Definition: An organism which has both male and female organs, and produces both male gametes (sperm) and female gametes (eggs). The organism can have both types of organs at the same time (simultaneous hermaphrodite) or have one type early in life and the other type later in life (sequential hermaphrodite).Sequential hermaphroditeDefinition: A type of hermaphrodite which starts out life as one sex and will either turn into a member of the other sex at a later point in life or will be capable of doing so if an appropriate condition arises (for example, the removal of all of the males in a population triggers the most dominant female to become a male).Simultaneous hermaphrodite Definition: A type of hermaphrodite which has both male and female organs at the same time and is able to produce both sperm and eggs at the same time. Such an organism is also able to fertilize its eggs with its own sperm (self-fertilization).Well i was just wondering if anybody else has a condition like this and what are your views on this !

Hermaphrodite
-
I've never heard of a human being a sequential hermaphrodite (it's something that is seen in a few fish species and some other animals), and true simultaneous hermaphroditism is very rare in people.[Later edit: Actually, I was wrong. There is a group of people in India who were born apparently girls and then grew penises at puberty. They were genetically males but there was a problem with their testosterone production.]Would you like to tell us more of your story?
-
Well theres really nothing much to tell other than it is a difficult condition to live with when going through school.Do people actually name people with this condition so called freaks where your from?It fucking cruel where i live !
-
just to point out that is me ^Too stupid to know i didnt log in

True hermaphrodites are rare. They are almost always sterile and unlikely to live very long, due to other defects. They are also not usually true hermaphrodites, and you are very unlikely to find someone who has both a penis and a vagina, if that's what you're interested in. Good luck finding anybody who fits your description. This is a little off-topic, but I found a video clip of a man with two penises, which itself is probably more rare than hermaphoditism.
-
Dont live very long ???
-
Heraphrodites usually have other genetic defects, which shorten their lifespan. I doubt you'll ever find a older, healthy hermaphrodite.
-
That's a distressing message for BURN. But I wonder, BURN, if you have true hermaphroditism, or something different - perhaps ambiguous genitalia, or mosaicism?
-
JESUS :open_mouth:, Just another thing to worry about cause i never really look into this that much.
-
Im not sure about True Hermaphroditee but Simultaneous hermaphrodite i think is my condition.
-
Sorry, maybe I'm wrong here. I didn't realize that you thought you had that condition. Haven't you talked to a doctor about this? The three cases you mentioned above sound to me to be more prevalent in the animal kingdom than in humans. Ambigious genitalia is more common, but I don't think that's considered to be the same thing as a hermaprodite.I am basing this all on some text I've read and a couple of documentaries I saw on the discovery health channel.
-
Sorry about freaking you out. I should have paid more attention to your post before I said anything. From what I know, the description of the simultaneous hermaphrodite is pretty unlikely. I don't think there's a record of any human being being able to make himself/herself pregnant.I suggest you talk to a doctor about this. A lot of people confuse true hermaphroditism with ambiguous genitalia, which from your profile, sounds to be your case. If you can pass for either sex, this is likely your condition. Doctors don't always decide to perform any kind of surgical procedure on someone with that condition, but I am sure it has been discussed with your parents when you were born.I hope you are not self-diagnosing your condition, because you are likely to be wrong about what it really is. Do a little more research on the web. Try webmd.com or a similar site.

Simultaneous hermaphrodite sounds from what i read is me but im well sure i cant make myself pregnant .Is a true hermaphrodite a person with both female and male reproductive organs ? If so i guess that'd be my condition
-
What organs do you have? If they're on the outside, it's hard to believe that nobody's noticed. When did you become aware of this?If you want, I can give you a link to a medical site with some pictures. Also, check out this site for more information: http://isna.org/drupal/node/view/16

Well i have a penis and vagina and yes i have been to doctors and such but no one else has notice.
And i'll check that site you are saying. -
I sent you the link to the pictures in a private message.I hope you can find what information you are looking for.
-
Thanks , Intersex is what i can desricbe is what i am.
-
Having a penis and a vagina does not necessarily mean you are a true hermaphrodite - that requires the penis to be connected up to at least one functioning testicle to produce semen containing viable sperm, and the vagina to be connected to a functioning uterus and at least one functioning ovary. What is more common is to have either a functioning penis with a non-working vagina, or a non-working penis with a functioning vagina, or neither fully functional.
-
I think a genetic test can tell you if you are really a true hermaphrodite. There are many variations of intersexed people; most of them are called "psudeohermaphrodites" where they appear to have the orgrans of both sexes, but their chromosomes say otherwise.

In reply to: Gonadal intersex (or "true hermaphrodite"): Rare condition in which the child has both ovarian and testicular tissue, either in separate gonads or as hybrid "ovotestes." Reproductive tracts, genital anatomy and gender identity are variable.Well atleast i got that cleared up , thanks !
