Shaving?

How often do you do it?If you only do it like once a month or less then it will be worse as your skin doesn't adapt to it.Similarly, if you do it too often then you can experience a similar problem in that you don't give your skin enough time to recover. There are other things you can try as well. Firstly a moisturising lotion will help somewhat. You can also alter the way you shave. One of the causes of razor burn is trimming the hair down too far. Instead of shaving "against the grain", shave with the grain. By this I mean that your hair will come out of your body pointing in a particular direction. Shave along that direction, not the opposite way. This way you get a less close shave, but there's less risk of ingrown hairs!

this is true, what SbT said. just like your face, its that way the first few times, too. and the skin down there is much more sensitive, not as broken in as the rest is. cooling aftershave lotion, or *said in announcer voice* Extra Moisturizing Shaving Cream!, (it's not a crock, does help), may be a big help, but, even though I shouldn't have to say this, some people can't be helped; DON'T use anything with alcohol in it. even on the skin itself, it burns, doesn't have to be inside anything.
or perhaps you could try trimming, quite close? maybe, with nail trimming scissors, or the like?
try that... -
You are shaving too close and that is irritating the skin. Try trimming close with a beard/mustache trimmer and then get a closer shave with an electric razor. Shaving cream will cause burning so I would avoid using it.

Hey Emo...Each person is different when it comes to shaving I believe. I used to get that bad razor burn too. I have very coarse, thick hair and get razor burn very easy...This is what has worked for me. Feel free to give it a try. I agree with the others. Not shaving regularly down there might have a lot to do with it. If you do plan on shaving less often, get yourself a trimmer and at least keep it cropped close to your skin. Keep is as short as possible. I shave in the shower. I usually shave that area every other day. I do the whole shower thing, blah, blah, blah. I use a bar of "Dove" soap and rub it on my stubble. I don’t ever shave up. I shave moving the razor down following the natural growth pattern of the hair. I only used the dove soap as the shaving product. The skin down in that area for me is extremely sensitive and I have found out that using the shaving gels or shaving creams was causing problems. I would usually get a painful rash. I use to use only a twin blade razor too because the 4 or 5 blade razors cut too close, but I’ve been doing it so long now that I’ve graduated up to the extreme 5 blade. I’ve gotten used to it, I guess... But I personally I would never recommend starting out shaving that area with that high number of blades or god forbid, an electric razor….. Yikes!Just make sure that you really rinse the soap out of your crotch area when you’re done. Spend a few extra minutes longer rinsing it away because the soap with cause you a rash too...Remember … shave down not up. Hope this helps.

This is just to the discussion in general not necessary to you roc. I don't know how using Dove would work but shaving gel and shaving foam aren't even good for your face. I damn sure wouldn't use 'em on Mr. Johnson.A few simple rules for shaving, whether it's your face or your nuts.-Keep the skin moist.-Soften the hair by applying plenty of moist heat. If your shaving outside the shower use a hot towel. The hotter the better as long as you don't scald yourself.-Consider using a pre-shave oil to prepare the skin and keep it lubricated.-Use a quality shaving soap. Spend a little bit and get something good. I highly recommend Truefitt & Hill. It seems to be the best I've found.-Get a quality badger brush to apply the shaving soap to your skin, stay away from cheap boars hair. This is just a convenient link to show you what I'm talking about. You can find a decent one on the net for about $35.00. However, if you can afford it I would part with the C note to get a really good one. Anything much over a hundred is to much. A quality brush should last you twenty years and does a lot to work the soap into your pores. Learn how to care for your brush, hang it, don't lay it flat or on it's base and damn sure don't store it in the soap mug or anything like that. Rinse it and flick the water out as completely as you can after each use.-To apply the soap, load your brush with hot water. Hold it perpendicular to the stream of water. Don't shake the water out of it, just let the water run out to the point it begins to drip. Take the brush and load it with soap. Taking care not crush the bristles into the soap work the brush around the soap until you see a slight lather start appear. (Remember your goal here is not to build lather on the soap but simply load the brush with soap.) Put the brush to your face or your nuts whatever your shaving and start to work up a lather by making small circles on the skin with the brush. Once the lather has begun to build up and you've covered the area your going to shave apply the rest of the shaving soap with a brushing action. That is, apply it as if you where applying paint to a wall. All you need to do is cover the skin. The lather should look more like paint at this point than foamy crap piled up on top of your skin. Remember any lather not in contact with your skin, as with foam shit, doesn't do any good. It's just waste.-Now with a sharp blade shave with the grain cutting the hair. Keep your razor wet with plenty of hot water and be sure it's rinsed clean. Be sure to stretch the skin tight, with your free hand.-Reapply shaving soap, using the same method.-Now shave against the grain cutting the stubble. Keep the razor wet loaded with plenty of hot water. Again stretching the skin tight.-Reapply shaving soap, using the same method again.-Now shave cross ways any areas that any stubble remains. Hot water - razor. Stretch the skin.-Now rinse the area you've shaved with cool water to close the pores.-Dry off and apply a quality aftershave to condition the skin. For your nuts I would stay away from anything that has a fragrance.Follow these steps and whether it's your face or your pubes your skin will thank you.I guess it's not necessary but I use a a double edge safety razor. The quality of shave I find to be much better. If you ever decide to go this route your gonna have to learn to use it first. It's not difficult it just takes some practice. That being said learn to use it on your face before you move on to your junk.Lastly, regardless of what razor or method you choose to use. Invest in $3.00 septic pencil to close up and keep any nick from getting infected. To use it run it under the water, pencil it on the nick, and rinse it off. Simple shit.
