Periods and sex
-
It's still possible to have sex during her period, but it can be a bit messy - you can get bloodstains on the sheets and many people find it a bit icky. Also, if she's using tampons she'll have to take it out, and in my experience they leave a dry patch inside that feels a bit rough.
Most people therefore hold off on sex over the (usually) five days of the period.

Not to mention that periods are very painful for a girl, and sexual intercourse DURING it makes it worse! Unless you're into BDSM, I suggest waiting until it's over...
-
Personally, I don't think menstruation needs to interfere with one's sex life. If it's a light day, the mess should me minimal. In my experience, woman have also not found sex during menstruation painful (to the contrary). The dryness problem can be overcome by lubrication, and the mess can be avoided by having sex in a bathroom, on plastic, etc. The main question is whether you both are comfortable with the idea. If you are, you should be able to find ways around the minor problems accompanying a period.

Where did you get the idea that they are "very painful"? Sure they can have aches and cramps etc... but I wouldn't categorize it as a very painful experience. Usually the aches and cramps occur just before the period starts. Am I correct ladies??
-
Yes you are correct. Actually most women are very horny right before and during their period. I have no problem with having sex during my period as long as the guy doesn't. I've had the best orgasms during that time.

I've heard - I don't know how true it is - that women who do have painful periods find an orgasm helps relieve the pain.
-
I have heard that too. I believe an orgasm releases endorphines into the bloodstream which is a natural painkiller. I also heard a study which found that thosse women who had men ejaculate into the vagina (as opposed to using a condom or withdrawal) had a lower rate of depression. Apparently, there is something in semen which acts as a mild antidepressant.Alas, I've tried to explain all of the above to my wife..... but she doesn't buy it........so yeah.....LOL

Is a woman less likely to get pregnant durring her period?
-
Well if her cycle is typical, meaning that she ovulates 2 weeks before the start of her menstrual cycle then the answer is yes it is safe. However, things are never precise and the "rhythm" method should only be used by those who are married/commited and don't mind getting pregnant.
