Ok, so I now know that Pre Cum can collect sperm from a previous ejaculation on the way out. What I want to know is this. Say you ejaculated at night, didn't pee, went to bed and then woke up. Would any sperm trapped in your pipes still be "active" by then?? Is there a life span for sperm still trapped after an ejaculation or will they survive there indefinately until you pee or something?? I know that sperm doesn't survive long at all after its "escaped" so to speak, but does the same go for the sperm trapped after a previous ejaculation? Please excuse me if these are dumb questions.Cheers

Pre-Cum Question
-
Sperm can live up to 5-7 days inside a woman. I would think they can live longer than overnight in your penis.

Not a dumb question at all! Welcome to A2A!

The dumb questions are the one that aren't asked. We applaud you for getting educated and not making dumb assumptions.

Interesting question........not a dumb one at all.The sperm will stay alive for many hours within your urethra until you flush 'em out (you gotta pee sooner or later). As sdp says they do stay alive for longer in favorable places.

Sperm only live that long in a woman if they actually make it through the cervix and into the uterus though. In the vagina they can only last like 6 hours due to acidity. They survive in the uterus longer due to the less acidic, more alkaline mucus lining which makes it easier for them to move and far more hospitable.I thought temperature was really important to sperm?? The penis temp isn't regulated like the nuts, so doesn't this shorten their life quite a bit? Or am i getting confused and temperature is only really important for the production of sperm?Cheers again guys and thanks for the replys.

You're looking for answers that no one really knows and probably has not been studied scientifically. If your concern is pregnancy, the answer is to use all means to prevent and protect.
-
Ah SDP your right. My concern is pregnancy. A few nights ago now I had a condom split on me quite early on. I didn't cum as I noticed the split before getting anywhere near that (I did have pre-cum though) and stopped... but i'm guessing the split was there for probably a minute or so before I noticed. I thought that everything was ok. I kept getting a nagging feeling so came on here and realised I was ignorant to the fact that pre-cum can cause pregnancy. I had sex the night before, went straight to sleep, woke up and had sex again which is when the condom split (no peeing in between). I'm shitting myself now as it's too late to start the pill. Should I be worrying this much? Why don't they teach that pre-cum can cause pregnancys in school, I thought I was fine due to the fact i pulled out way before, and then i found this site.I've been loosing sleep over this.Cheers guys
-
Well, the chance is there, but it's a lot less than it would be if the full storm was let loose. And they do teach that now. We just read that in out Human Sexuality books, regarding contraception. "Withdrawing is not a good way...etc."So, I'm sorry you never learned it, but kids now are. (I'm not bashing you or anything, if it sounds like it. )
-
Nah, don't worry, I know your not bashing. I did sex ed 7 years ago and pre-cum was just mentioned as a lubricant, I may be forgetting though. So you recon I shouldn't be worrying as much?
-
The chances of pregnancy from pre-cum on any one occasion is extremely small, as the number of sperm is quite low. If withdrawal is used regularly as the only method of contraception these extremely small chances start adding up to something bigger - though I still suspect the biggest chance of pregnancy comes from being too slow to withdraw before ejaculation. I've never seen any actual numerical data on chances of pregnancy from pre-cum and I suspect no-one has been able to measure it.

Yup, yup! What Pete said, too.

Pre_cum can cause unexpected pregnancy. For the young couples out there do not experiment of doing those things. It is better to use condom as a birth control method, it also gives pleasure because it has a lubricating oil that can satisfy the feeling of your partner.
