So I looked up a few threads I couldnt really find the answer to my question but here goes. I finally shaved, correctly this time in the genital area, only going over an area maximum of two times, trimmed it first, did it in shower, used shaving cream, and then vaselined the are afterwards. However there is still quite a few hairs left in the bushier areas, I definately want to go back in after them, but how often should I shave the area, I obviously need to wait before i can do it again, how long? Tomorrow? Two days?

Shaving

Well i dont know if its diff for a boy or girl, butt i shave about ever other day. it hurts when i try to shave everydayy so i jus do it every other day. either that or maybe every 2 dayz or whenever u feel comfortable.

I shave my balls every other day in the shower and just keep the rest really really short and trimmed. I got way too many ingrown hairs to keep it shaved all the time. I'm way to hairy for that and my hair is really thick. I'm one of the missing links

I hope your not using the foam shit in a can. Be sure to use a quality shaving soap or cream. For a clean shave it'll require three passes. First, shave with the grain. Then, against the grain. Then, across the grain to pick up any strays. Be sure to reapply the soap or cream between each pass of the razor. You shouldn't have to push down or put any weight on the razor to get it to cut close. If you do, go get a better razor. Pressing down or putting weight on the razor will cause you a good amount of razor burn.

Usually every other day does quite fine. If you don't grow enough hair to be pricklyish by then, maybe 3.

I use foam but it says its for sensitive skin so I specifically chose that, plus I only did it twice as most sites never more then 2 passes. I got a patch of red spots, but it doesnt hurt at all, although i didnt get close enough in many areas, as I said i didnt want to pass too many times and im still getting good at it, so the hairs are prickly, besides that no discomfort.

Well, it's always gonna be stubbly/prickly feeling, it won't feel like lubed up butter smooth...wow, that's...er.....but I mean usually when you can see them, like your face. And like you said, you'll start to get good at it.

It doesn't matter what it says, don't use the foam crap. Think about it logically and you'll probably realize the foam shit does nothing to lubricate the skin. It just sits there on top, doing nothing.
Trust me on this... do your self a favor and get a quality shaving cream or shaving soap. Your skin will thank you. Here's a link that has a few reviews for some of the products. My personal recommendation is Truefitt & Hill shaving soap but that's just me. I'm sure most are going to be pretty close to par and all will be better than foam or cream from the supermarket.
Two passes... yeah that might be right if your using one of those crappy Schick Quattro or Fusion razors that have a shit load of blades built into it. There great for a fast shave but I've read they're detrimental to your skin in the long run. If I remember right it's because each pass with one of those is like four or five passes from a single blade, which makes sense, I guess. Besides, I wasn't clear in my original post, the third pass should only be to pick up anything the first two missed.
_________________________________________________________________Oh and keep your razor hot. I don't know why it works but it seems to work for me. Don't shave in the shower when doing this so you don't risk burning yourself. The hotter the water on the razor the better. I use a old fashion safety razor, so it's all metal and I leave the scalding water running on it. It just seems that the hotter the razor the smoother the shave and the less nicks and cuts.
Also, before you shave take a wash cloth and run it under the hot water, hot enough you can barely stand to ring it out then wrap it around your junk and leave it there for at least 30 seconds. It'll soften the hair and make the shave much smoother.

I prefer using a hair conditioner while shaving (much better than shaving cream and keeps the skin so soft and smooth) and yes hot water on razor helps in a smoother shave.Foam isnt that good compared to other products like creams and gels......but if applying foam, its much better to spread it using a wet shaving brush like you would do with creams so it gets closer to skin than just sitting there on top. My dad when shaving his face often uses foam and applies it with brush and gets a very smooth shave......he says the can of foam only cuts down the time needed to foam up the creams and gels.
